TheMarvel Cinematic Universehas many fights between superheroes, and these are the very best of the bunch. While seeing heroes fight villains is part of nearly every superhero film, there have been times when Marvel superheroes have fought one another. That is part of some of theMCU’s best movies, witha common trope often used for the MCU.

That is when heroes first fight before teaming up. It has happened multiple times in the Marvel franchise, and theMCU’s slate of projects, such asSpider-Man: Brand New Day, which will feature Spider-Man, the Punisher, and the Hulk, could continue to use it. That said,MCU heroes have fought for many different reasons. Here are the best fights between MCU heroes:

Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men holding each other in Spider-Man No Way Home

10Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man Vs Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man

Starting the list is an unusual entry. That is because the two heroes in question are not native to the MCU, though they were key to one of thefranchise’s most successful movies.Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield returned as their versions ofSpider-Man in No Way Home. The past cinematic versions of Peter Parker did not initially work together.

Instead, both characters recognized one another as a different Peter, immediately jumping into a web fight. The sequence is thrilling, even if brief. It allowed fans to see the two Spider-Men put their skills on display against each other, with Maguire’s Spider-Man — the most experienced of the two — coming out on top. Seeing the organic webs versus web-shooters was interesting.

Chris Evans' Steve Rogers fights a Captain America variant in Avengers_ Endgame

9Captain America Vs Captain America

The second fight on the list is once again one that features different versions of the same hero. However, unlikeNo Way Home’s Spider-Men fight, both Captain Americas were played by Chris Evans.Avengers: Endgameis the MCU’s biggest movie, andthe use of time travel helped the MCUhave a sort of victory lap that revisited many important events.

The present-day Steve Rogers fightingThe Avengers' Captain America was a unique event. It was fun to see how the older Steve was a better tactician, while his younger counterpart seemed to beat him on brute strength. The fight served some striking scenes, likethe Captain America shields colliding, and golden one-liners, like, “That is America’s ass.”

hulk vs iron man hulkbuster

8Iron Man’s Hulkbuster Vs The Hulk

The Hulk has fought multiple MCU heroes, and might do so again inSpider-Man: Brand New Dayif rumors turn out to be accurate. InAvengers: Age of Ultron, the hero’s out-of-control destruction of South Africa was not his fault.Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch used her powers to manipulate the Hulkinto doing so.

While Thor had previously fought the Hulk inThe Avengers, the sequel opted to have Iron Man stop him. This fight is epic due to how it brings one exciting element from the comics into live-action:Iron Man’s Hulkbuster armor. With the suit designed to fight the Hulk, Tony Stark and Bruce Banner’s super-powered self have a fierce battle.

Thor and the Hulk jumping at each other in Thor Ragnarok

7Thor Vs The Hulk In Thor: Ragnarok

Speaking about Thor and the Hulk fighting, their best battle did not come in an Avengers movie. Instead, the fight is from Thor’s best MCU film,Thor: Ragnarok. Afterboth were absent fromCaptain America: Civil War, Marvel Studios revealed how the two heroes were on their own adventure together on another planet.

Thor and the Hulk fight as gladiators for the Grandmaster’s amusement in Sakaar. The battle keeps changing who might win as the heroes find new moves against one another. There are some fun elements to it, as well as epic moments, such asThor using lightning without Mjolnir. While Thor seemed like the winner, the Grandmaster cheated, so Hulk won.

Doctor Strange pushing Peter Parker’s astral form out in Spider-Man No Way Home

6Spider-Man Vs Doctor Strange

Spider-Man: No Way Homewas packed with villains from the previous Spider-Man movie franchises. As such, there were many fights between heroes and villains. However, two battles between superheroes find themselves on the list. The best one was undoubtedly that between Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. It served to show just how resourceful and smart Peter is.

Spider-Man might not be more powerful than Doctor Strange, but he sure knows how to handle himself. One of the coolest moments comes fromPeter’s Spider-Sense being able to keep Doctor Strange from catching the encased spelleven when Peter’s soul was separated from his body. Later, Spider-Man traps Doctor Strange in the Mirror Realm using math!

Black Widow and Hawkeye leaning their heads against one another in sadness in Avengers: Endgame

5Hawkeye Vs Black Widow

Hawkeye and Black Widow is a unique fight between superheroes in the MCU. Instead of not trusting one another, which is one of the main reasons for superheroes to fight, their clash comes because of their deep trust and love for each other. In order for the Avengers to get the Soul Stone, one of the two heroes had to die.

As such, they fight to see which hero will sacrifice their life. It is one of the MCU sequences with the most tension. The fight keeps changing who appears to be winning, and with each strike, they get near the edge of the cliff, which means certain death. The emotional ending, with Black Widow falling to her death, makes it tragic.

Wolverine in a car in Deadpool & Wolverine’s official trailer

4Deadpool & Wolverine’s Car Fight

Deadpool & Wolverineis the MCU’s first R-rated movie. As such, the film possesses some of the bloodiest, most violent fights in the franchise. A few of them happen to come from its titular characters not seeing eye-to-eye. While their first fight in the Void is iconic, I believe that Deadpool and Wolverine’s car fight tops it.

The reason for that is simple. This feels way more personal. The fight ensues after Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine delivers a devastating monologue that crushes Deadpool to the point where he is left with no words. With Adamantium claws, swords, knives, and the car’s objects flying around, things get bloody very fast. The contained space of the fight helps make it more impactful.

Captain Carter, Black Bolt, Mister Fantastic and Captain Marvel as the Illuminati in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

3Scarlet Witch Vs The Illuminati

Sure, her actions might be those of a villain inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However,Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch is one of the MCU’s most powerful heroes.WandaVisionended with the character accepting her full power, and theDoctor Strangesequel allowed us to see that on display.

Sadly, it did not end well for a Marvel team that was full of promise. Earth-838’s Illuminate had exciting heroes like a variant of Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier, John Krasinski’s Mister Fantastic, Black Bolt, and more. The team had defeated their world’s Thanos. However, they could not match the Scarlet Witch, who mercilessly killed the heroes one by one.

Sam Wilson’s Falcon, Scott Lang’s Ant-Man, Clint Barton’s Hawkeye, Steve Rogers' Captain America, Wanda Maximoff, and Bucky Barnes running in an airport in Captain America: Civil War

2Captain America: Civil War’s Airport Fight

When it comes to fights between superheroes in the MCU,Captain America: Civil Waris the movie to watch. It has a superhero conflict at the center of its story, separating Marvel’s heroes into two sides, withone team led by Chris Evans' Captain America, and the other by Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man.

Civil War’s airport fight sequence is one of the MCU’s best moments. The two superhero teams clash, allowing fans to see several different heroes fighting each other. It alsobrought in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man into the fold, with his stealing of Captain America’s shield being an iconic moment. It is the largest fight between superheroes in the MCU.

Iron Man vs Captain America Civil War Final Battle

1Captain America & The Winter Soldier Vs Iron Man

While the airport fight might be the MCU’s largest between superheroes, another is better.Captain America: Civil War’s final fight between Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes against Tony Stark is incredibly dark, personal, and gut-wrenching.Captain America knew that Bucky had killed Tony’s parentswhen he was brainwashed by HYDRA. However, he chose not to tell Stark about it.

That leads to a fight sequence with many hard-hitting moments. These include Bucky and Steve passing the Captain America shield around as they fight Tony; Iron Man blasting Bucky’s arm to ashes; Captain America sticking his shield in Iron Man’s arc reactor; and Steve leaving his shield behind. The fight broke the Avengers apart, and it is theMCU’s best between heroes.
