This little secret that is hidden inPokémon Snapnot only lets you get snaps of every Pokémon possible in a level but also references some of the inspirations that the Pokémon involved have. At a certain level inPokémon Snap, you can throw bait into a waterfall to bait a Magikarp to go into it.

After a few seconds, we see a massive Gyarados come out of the waterfall. This not only lets you take a snap of the newly evolved Gyarados but also references the story of the salmon climbing the waterfall to become a dragon.

9Have Pikachu On Your Shoulder - Pokémon GO

Pokémon GOtook the world by storm when it was first released back in July of 2016 and brought back attention to the franchise which, while it was still going fairly strong, was at a low point. The game had a ton of Pokémon and even head a few references and callbacks to the other games and even the TV series.

One call back to the show was the ability to have a Pikachu, the mascot fo the series, on your should in a similar style toAsh, the main character of the series.

8Unlock A Special Move - Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee

Something you don’t see a lot of in gaming is doing actual real-life, physical things to the hardware to change the game. ThePokémongames series has been known to do this though, most well known is having to turn the 3DS upside-down to evolve certain Pokémon.

When players playPokémon Let’s Go Pikachu/Eeveein either docked or tabletop mode, there is a small chance that a prompt will appear during battles that allow Pikachu to do a special move that could be ‘devastating’ to opponents. If you’re not using Pikachu, there is a small chance that the Pokémon you are using will receive a buff.

Generation 4is a lot of people’s favorite out of the entire series. This is mainly because the games,Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinumhad a ton of content but some of it was cut out. The interesting thing aboutPokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinumare that the games utilized the internal calendar that the DS had to affect the game. 4Fish In Gym Statues - Pokémon Red/Blue

This is an old one, so you might have already heard about it. The first game in the series, especially considering when it was released, usually contains a few bugs and since it came out on the original Gameboy, there were no patches to fix these glitches.

In most gyms (except for the Saffron and Cinnabar Gyms) and the Indigo road in the originalPokémon Red and Bluegames you can actually use your fishing rod on the statues there, nothing will come out of them but it’s still interesting that the animation happens like normal.

There are two possible methods and both are somewhat complicated, but the first and most popular one requires you to save in front of a Pokécenter and shut off the game.

2See Your Father - Pokémon  Ruby/ Sapphire

This might be a bit of a weird entry on this list and we can’t blame you. This is a thing you probably didn’t think about when you were playing any generation 3Pokémongames but it can be a real lightbulb moment. In most Pokémon games, you play the game with only one parent and that is almost always your mom.

This leads a lot of fans to theorize about what happens to the dads in the Pokémon world and also what professor Oak and your mom are doing while you’re gone. This is why it is surprising to have your father be an active part of the story in Generation 3.
