Thanos is one of the most powerful villains in theMarvel Cinematic Universe, but if theX-Menmovie characters had faced him, things could have been very different.Fox’s X-Men universewas filled with some of the most powerful mutants ever seen on screen. Many of these mutants could go toe-to-toe with the Mad Titan, even with the Infinity Gauntlet.
It’s not just about raw power. It’s about strategy, survivability, and the kind of abilities that bypass Thanos’s strength altogether. While Thanos is no pushover, the mutants of the X-Men universe have more than a few champions who could give him a fight he’d never forget, and some who might end it in seconds.
10Deadpool’s Inability To Die Makes Him A Relentless Threat

Deadpool might not have cosmic powers, but hisgreatest weapon is his immortality. The version from theDeadpoolmovies can regenerate from nearly anything; gunshots, explosions, dismemberment, even total body destruction. Thanos could disintegrate him, and Wade Wilson would probably still regenerate while cracking jokes the entire time.
What makes Deadpool so dangerous isn’t just his healing factor, but the fact that he never gives up,never shuts up, and fights with total unpredictability. Thanos might overpower him or throw him into space, but that wouldn’t end the fight. Deadpool would keep coming back.
Over time, that persistence becomes an advantage. He might not kill Thanos with brute force, but with the right weapon (and he always finds the weirdest ones), he could land a lucky blow. If nothing else,he’d drive Thanos completely insane. Sometimes, that’s enough.
9Quicksilver Can Move Quicker Than Thanos

TheX-Menversion of Quicksilver, particularly as seen inX-Men: Days of Future Past, operates onan entirely different speed level thanThanos. Quicksilver moves so quickly that everything around him appears frozen. He can disarm enemies, dodge bullets, and set up intricate attacks in the blink of an eye – literally.
In a direct confrontation, Quicksilver could easily snatch the Gauntlet off Thanos’s hand before the Titan even realizes what’s happening. He could launch a hundred attacks in the time it takes Thanos to throw a single punch. Speed kills, and Quicksilver’s super-speed wouldgive him a serious tactical edge.
Unless Thanos had prep time or cosmic awareness, hewouldn’t even be able to react before he was disarmed, or worse. Quicksilver’s advantage lies in the fact that Thanos wouldn’t see the fight coming until it was already over. While he’d probably need some help, Quicksilver would be a major obstacle for Thanos.
8Rogue Would Only Need To Get Close To Thanos

Rogue’s mutant power to absorb the life force, strength, and abilities of anyone she touchesgives her a major advantage against Thanos. While she’d need to survive long enough to make contact, a single grab could tilt the fight entirely in her favor. If Rogue could touch Thanos, even for a second, she could drain his lifeforce.
It’s unclear whether Rogue could sap his strength, weaken his mind, or gain his abilities temporarily. Many of these are inherent to Thanos’s species and the gauntlet. Yet, if she absorbs even a fraction of his cosmic awareness or power,the tables would turn instantly. In someX-Menstories, Rogue has absorbed powers as potent as Ms. Marvel’s permanently.
If the movie version could replicate that kind of feat, she could take Thanos down fast.All she needs is one touchand Thanos could be out of the picture. Though actually touching him might prove difficult.
7Apocalypse Could Beat Thanos Without The Infinity Gauntlet

The version of Apocalypse fromX-Men: Apocalypsemight not be universally beloved, buthis power is undeniable. He’s a centuries-old mutant with reality-warping abilities, psychic powers, body manipulation, and matter transmutation. Apocalypse has a power set that rivals, or even exceeds, Thanos without the Gauntlet.
Apocalypse can disintegrate enemies with a thought, grow in size, enhance other mutants, and reshape his own body to suit any battle. He also has an incredibly durable body and regenerative capabilities. This makes him difficult to killeven by cosmic standards.
Thanos would have trouble countering someone who can manipulate the battlefield, attack his mind, and regenerate on the fly. Without the Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos is a skilled fighter and strategist, but Apocalypse is essentially a walking god. In a straight-up power clash, Apocalypse hasmore than enough tools to overwhelm Thanos, given the right conditions.
6Sebastian Shaw Would Absorb Thanos’s Power

Sebastian Shaw’s mutant ability allows him to absorb kinetic and energy attacks and convert them into strength. That makes him uniquely suited to survive a direct clash with Thanos, who often relies on raw power and physical strikes. Every punch Thanos throws at Shawwould only make him stronger.
Even energy blasts from the Gauntletwould be absorbed, feeding Shaw’s strength until he could deliver a retaliatory strike strong enough to stagger even the Mad Titan. Shaw thrives in battles where brute force is the primary tool. The more punishment he takes, the more dangerous he becomes.
Eventually, Thanos would be fighting a supercharged Shaw at full power, possibly stronger than even Hulk. If Shaw could get close and survive the first few hits, he couldgrow powerful enough to trade blows. Shaw could eventually overpower Thanos in a drawn-out brawl.
5Wolverine’s Ferocity Has Taken Down Larger Threats
Wolverine might not look like much next to cosmic giants like Thanos, but he’s taken down beings just as dangerous. His adamantium claws can cut through almost anything, including foes with far superior strength and durability. Combined with his healing factor, Logancan take brutal punishment and keep going, making him a nightmare in close-quarters combat.
While Thanos could potentially crush Wolverine in a single hit, Logan’s tenacity and refusal to die have surprised enemies before. If he gets close enough, hecould pierce through Thanos’s armor, and perhaps even reach vital points.
He’s not flashy, but Wolverine doesn’t need to be. Logan’s key advantage is that he keeps coming. He doesn’t stop. Hedoesn’t surrender. Against a distracted or overconfident Thanos, that might be all he needs to make the killing blow.
4Storm Is An Omega-Level Mutant

Storm’s weather-controlling powers are often underestimated. Yet she’s canonicallyone of the most powerful Omega-level mutantsin theX-Menuniverse. In the movies, she’s summoned tornadoes, lightning strikes, and extreme cold with ease.
Given her full potential, Storm couldgenerate planetary-scale storms, electrocute Thanos with repeated lightning strikes, or even suffocate him by manipulating atmospheric pressure. If she fights from the air, she gains a serious tactical advantage, especially if Thanos doesn’t see her as an immediate threat.
In some interpretations, her connection to natural forces borders on mystical, giving her an edge even against cosmic entities. With the right strategy, Storm could keep Thanos on the defensive and slowly tear him down withoverwhelming elemental power. While he’s tough, he’s still physical, and nature itself doesn’t care how strong you are.
3Professor X Could Shut Down Thanos’s Mind Easily
Professor Charles Xavier is one of the world’smost powerful telepaths, and that’s bad news for Thanos. Without the Mind Stone to shield him, Thanos is still vulnerable to psychic attack. Professor X could freeze him in place, paralyze his mind, or alter his perception of reality, all without lifting a finger.
In theX-Menfilms, Xavier has shut down minds across great distances, erased memories, and even controlled others’ bodies. Against Thanos, Xavier could stop the fight before it even began. He doesn’t need to break bones, hejust needs to shut off the brain.
While Thanos is powerful and determined, there’s no evidence he has natural resistance to telepathy. If Xavier getseven a moment of uninterrupted focus, the battle would be over. The biggest challenge would be surviving long enough to make that mental connection.
2Magneto Would Quickly Disarm Thanos
Magneto controls metal on a global scale. That spells doom for Thanos, whose armor and even parts of the Infinity Gauntlet are metal-based. If Magneto can sense and manipulate those materials, he couldrip the Gauntlet off Thanos’s hand or crush it entirely.
In X-Men: Apocalypse, Magnetomanipulates the Earth’s magnetic field and dismantles entire cities. A focused attack on Thanos’s armor or weaponry would give Erik Lehnsherr a serious edge. Even Thanos’s physical strength can’t help if he’s being flung through the air or compressed into a metal sphere.
Given Magneto’s ability to multitask and attack from afar, Thanos might not even reach him in time. If it comes down to brains versus brawn, Magneto’s control over the battlefieldcould decide the entire fightbefore Thanos can react. Thanos would be disarmed and crushed very quickly.
1Jean Grey Dominates Any Battle

Jean Grey, especially as the Phoenix,would utterly outclass Thanosin a one-on-one battle. InX-Men: The Last StandandDark Phoenix, she shows power on a cosmic scale: disintegrating enemies, manipulating matter, and resurrecting herself. Even without the Phoenix, Jean’s telepathy and telekinesis make her a force to be reckoned with.
With full Phoenix power, Jean becomes unstoppable. Shecan erase enemies from existence, alter the world around her, and fight on a level Thanos simply can’t match without the complete Infinity Gauntlet. Her power is primal and fueled by emotion – something Thanos often underestimates.
Jean coulddismantle Thanos atom by atomor crush his mind and body at once. If there’s any X-Men character who doesn’t just beat Thanos but obliterates him, it’s Jean Grey. Much like any other battle, Phoenix would make quick work ofThanosin the MCU.
