Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #6Star Warshas revealed one ofDarth Vader’sbiggest failures in the wake ofOrder 66. During the tragic Jedi Purge, which paved the way for Palpatine’s Empire, Darth Vader was instrumental in the eradication of all Jedi for years to come during the Dark Times. However, it’s now been revealed that there was one survivor Vader simply…missed.
As seen in the latest issue of Marvel’sLegacy of Vaderseries, Kylo Ren is being led to an alleged Jedi survivor found by Vaneé, the old caretaker of Darth Vader’s fortress. Recently,Vaneé has been sharing new insights about Darth Vader’s history with Kylo RenbetweenThe Last JediandRise of Skywalker.Seeking a worthy opponent, it seems Kylo Ren now has the chance to truly finish what his grandfather started.

Darth Vader Completely Missed A Jedi Master Survivor
Living on the Planet Lahtee
Upon landing on the Outer Rim world of Lahtee, Vaneé shares with Kylo Ren that Darth Vader wiped out the vast majority of the Jedi Order during the tragic galaxy-wide event known as Order 66. Once Palpatine’s rule was cemented,Darth Vader and his Inquisitorstraveled the galaxy hunting down any Jedi survivors they heard about until reports started drying up. Then, Vader turned his attention to the Rebellion.
Now,Legacy of Vader #6reveals that Darth Vader ignored a report about a possible Jedi survivor on Lahtee. During the events of the original trilogy, Vader was too focused on hunting down Luke Skywalker, wanting to turn his son to the dark side. As such, Vaneé confirms that Vader never followed up on this Jedi survivor, whom Kylo Ren is now seeking to do battle with decades later.

Named Grandea, it does seem as though Kylo Ren may have his work cut out for him with this new Jedi Master. After all, she easily steals the Supreme Leader’s lightsaber by the issue’s end. Wanting to speak with the Supreme Leader, it’s going to be fascinating to learn more about her Jedi history since the end of the Clone Wars.
There were plenty of other Order 66 survivors, including Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, and Cal Kestis. However, many of these Jedi were either faced by Darth Vader at some point or remained so deeply in exile that there was no trace of their survival.Conversely, Jedi Master Grandea surprisingly stands out, an apparent Jedi survivor whom Darth Vader simply didn’t care to investigate.
Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #6is now on sale from Marvel Comics.
Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader
Conceived by the will of the Force itself, Anakin Skywalker was the prophesied Chosen One, destined to bring the Force into balance. Anakin struggled to balance competing attachments to the Jedi Order and his wife Padmé Amidala, and ultimately fell to the dark side, becoming Darth Vader. For years he served as Palpatine’s right hand man, but he was ultimately redeemed by the faith of his son, Luke Skywalker. Now a Force Ghost, Anakin continues to act as an agent of balance.
Ben Solo/Kylo Ren
The son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, Ben was manipulated by Palpatine through the Force for most of his life, influenced toward the dark side of the Force. A misstep by Luke Skywalker ultimately left Ben feeling he had no choice but to embrace the dark side, and he became Kylo Ren, a key figure in the First Order. Kylo Ren’s heart remained deeply divided, however, even after he ascended to become Supreme Leader of the First Order. He was ultimately redeemed by Rey, with whom he shared a remarkable Force bond, and by the love of his parents.
