While Sam Wilson is set to lead the Avengers in theMarvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), there is another character who embodies Steve Rogers even more effectively. Steve Rogers was a unique hero for the MCU, as an incredibly selfless and courageous figure who others were more than willing to follow into war.

However, as much asSam Wilson is being set up to lead the Avengersinto the next era of these stories, he has a distinct style of his own that sets him apart from the former Captain America. Meanwhile, a newhero has surfaced in the MCU who resembles Chris Evans' MCU First Avenger.

A Fantastic Four Member Is The MCU’s True Steve Rogers Replacement

With the release ofThe Fantastic Four: First Steps, Pedro Pascal’sReed Richards now joins the expansive world of heroesset out in the MCU. And as of his debut story, the character appears to clearly contain much of the same mettle as Steve Rogers.

While Reed has intelligence exceeding Tony Stark’s, he also has empathy and compassion that appears to reflect Rogers, demonstrated in his love for his family and the wide world around him, and his desire to protect them both. When the world faces nearly certain disaster,Reed takes the responsibility upon himself to save everyone, whatever the cost.

Even when faced with what looks like certain doom, Reed never stops persevering, echoing the way that Steve operated in the MCU. Of course, Reed also benefits from having a family to help guide his moral compass, and his partner, Sue, is clearly a more natural leader than her husband, butReed is also someone that others can rally behind.

Reed Richards' Role In Avengers: Doomsday Could Further Cement Him As Steve Rogers' Replacement

Avengers: Doomsdayis due to set several superhero teamson a collision course, including The Fantastic Four, the Avengers, The New Avengers, and even the X-Men. However, to face down the threat of Doctor Doom, these heroes will need to find ways to work together.

Pedro Pascal recently spoke about the idea of him leading the Avengers, and suggested that this is not necessarily the arc his character is due to follow (viaVariety), but regardless, it’s clearReed’s role will still be an important onein the upcoming events.

With Reed stepping up to help the heroes take down Doom, it seems highly likely that he will take on that same inspiring role thathelps to guide the moral core of the heroes, just as Steve Rogers did in the MCU before him, if only because neither hero is seemingly ever really willing to give up.

Ultimately, both characters embody heroism, leadership, hope, and determination. Beyond that, both often operate as the strategic core of their teams. Indeed, seeing Reed Richards becoming the strategic head of the combined heroic forces inAvengers: Doomsdayand beyond for theMCUwould make perfect sense, much as seeing Steve issue orders fromThe Avengersonwards did.
