Alan Ritchson recently gave behind-the-scenes details aboutReacherseason 4’s production that seemingly hinted at the book the Amazon show will adapt next. AfterReacher’s successful runof three seasons, theAmazon Prime Video detective seriesis about to expand its lore with two confirmed installments. While one isReacherseason 4, the other is a spin-off focusing onMaria Sten’s Neagley. TheNeagleyspin-off will be the first installment in the series to present an original narrative that has little to do with the stories explored inLee Child’s originalJack Reacherbooks.

Reacherseason 4, on the other hand, will continue the show’s trend of loyally adapting a new installment from the original book series. As reports suggest,Reacher’s creators are presently focusing more on theNeagleyspin-off. Owing to this, little has been revealed about the bookReacher’s next season will adapt. Although only time will tell which novel will ultimately serve as the foundation forReacherseason 4’s story, it seems like Alan Ritchson might have already hinted at where the show plans to go next. He has given away one crucial production detail that leaves enough room for speculation.

Alan Ritchson Has Promised “Season 4 Is Going To Be The Most Physically Intense Season Yet”

It Is A Big Claim Given How Action-Packed Seasons 2 And 3 Have Been

Onhis official Instagram handle, Alan Ritchson shared a series of behind-the-scenes pictures fromReacherandNeagley’s sets. Interestingly, while describing one of the pictures in the series, Ritchson mentions that he has already started training forReacherseason 4 becauseit is “going to be the most physically intense season yet.“The statement comes off as a massive claim because allReacherseasons, so far, have been jam-packed with intense action scenes and fight sequences.

While season 1 was still relatively tame, it featured the gripping prison action scenes in which Reacher single-handedly took down many prisoners. Season 2 featured some of Reacher’s most badass moments, especially towards the end, where he kept fighting despite sustaining many serious injuries. Similarly,Reacherseason 3 started slowly but featured the show’s best fight and most high-stakes action scene in its finale when the two titans, Reacher and Paulie, fought to the death.

All threeReacherseasonshave undoubtedly been intense in action andhave intentionally adapted books that highlight the titular character’s nearly superhuman physical strength. With Alan Ritchson claiming thatReacherseason 4 will be even more “physically intense” than the previous seasons, it is hard not to wonder which book it will adapt. While allJack Reacherbooks have a fair share of physically demanding action scenes, Alan Ritchson’s BTS reveal hints that season 4 will likely adapt one Lee Child novel.

The Alan Ritchson Reveal Increases The Odds Of One Book’s Adaptation In Reacher Season 4

It Seems Likely Season 4 Will Adapt Die Trying

Arguably, in terms of action, Lee Child’sWorth Dying For,Gone Tomorrow,Night School, andDie Tryingseemingly rank most other books in the series. All four books not only unfold compelling mystery dramas but also put the central character’s physical prowess on full display.Reacherseason 4 could adapt any of these books, butit seems likely that it will go for Lee Child’sDie Trying. In its opening moments,Die Tryingfeatures a sequence in which Reacher faces his most physically demanding challenge when he has to crawl through a narrow mountain seam despite his massive stature.

AdaptingDie Tryingwould allow the series to seamlessly transition from theNeagleyspin-off toReacherseason 4.

SinceReacherseason 3 has also introduced Jack Reacher’s military mentor, Leon Garber, it seems likely that season 4 will mark his return by adaptingDie Tryingand digging deeper into the bond Reacher and Garber shared in the past. The upcomingReacherspin-off,Neagley, is also set in Chicago, which, interestingly, is where Die Trying unfolds. AdaptingDie Tryingwould allow the series to seamlessly transition from theNeagleyspin-off toReacherseason 4.

Lee Child’sDie Tryingalso happens to be Alan Ritchson’s favoriteJack Reacherbook (viaGame Rant), and he has previously promised that he will make its adaptation happen. With so many subtle clues suggesting thatReacherseason 4 will adaptDie Trying, it would not be surprising if the show’s next installment picks the Lee Child novel. However, for now, one cannot be too sure about what lies ahead for the TV franchise until some official confirmations are made surrounding its story direction.
