The rivalries had a very personal element as well, but the teen characters and their adult counterparts were each completely dedicated to football and proving they were the best team. Thanks to the introduction of new characters,All Americanseason 7 also spent a lot of time developing new romances. Coop began law school and immediately had chemistry with her new professor. By the season finale, she finally felt comfortable asking her professor out, and the two shared a kiss, setting up an interesting future for the pair. Simultaneously, the season saw Cassius struggling with his wife’s desire to separate and their lack of passion after years of marriage. By the final game, though, she was beginning to come back around, and the two started to rekindle their romance.
The younger characters also began complicated new friendships and romances across the two schools. Amina had growing feelings for Khalil, but her chemistry with KJ was undeniable. KJ and Amina became good friends, and he began dating Tori. By the season’s end,KJ confirmed his relationship with Tori at the football game, causing Amina to realize that she had feelings for him all along. That moment is what caused her to decide to say yes to boarding school, but knowingAll American, her relationships with Khalil and KJ will certainly be revisited.

All American Has More Stories To Tell
All Americanseason 7 felt like a show in flux in a lot of ways. There were some major changes and character development for both familiar characters and new favorites. As a result,a lot of the stories feel quite unfinished. Cassius and KJ’s stories, in particular, are only getting started. Even the more familiar characters are in very new situations, with Coop, Layla, and Jordan figuring out how to be grown-ups and role models for the first time. These journeys are interesting to watch, but they also signify that the show as a whole is changing form.
The finale’s football game is a representation of these changes in a very literal sense. The game ends unanswered, just as Layla and Amina’s future is uncertain, as is Cassius’s path to redemption.
