There’s one character in “Present Tense” whose appearance came as a complete surprise, but now they have the potential for one of the best stories in a possibleAnd Just Like Thatseason 4. While there’s no official word on another installment, it’s a strong possibility, especially since the revival has gained favor withAnd Just Like Thatseason 3.
The revival has performed better in season 3. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) just broke up with herSex and the Citybeau, Aidan (John Corbett), who came back inAnd Just Like Thatseason 2. Things have also stayed interesting for Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Seema (Sarita Choudhury), and in fact,Patel has had some of the most interesting developments.

After Carrie gets frustrated withAidan inAnd Just Like Thatseason 3, episode 9, she goes to have lunch with her real estate pal.Seema gives Carrie her first look inside The Patel Group, and to our complete surprise, Seema already has her first employee. This is promising for both Patel’s business and Seema’s narrative arc.
When we first checked in with Seema this season, she spoke more to Artold than to her boyfriend.
Patel hired Ravi’s (Armin Amiri) assistant, Artold (Mihir Kumar), introduced in the season 3 premiere. When we first checked in with Seema this season, she spoke more to Artold than to her boyfriend, due to his packed schedule as a movie producer. While she didn’t prefer talking to him, Artold was kind and charismatic.
That’s why it was great to see Artold back in the picture in “Present Tense.” He was pleasant and humorous to watch in the premiere, and he’s a testament to Seema’s influence. Artold’s presence signals that Patel is serious about growing her business, and I was glad to see that her first employee was someone familiar.
Artold Boosts Seema’s Story Potential

Artold is more than just a boost to Seema’s business. As characters like Che Diaz (Sarah Ramirez) and Nya Wallace (Karen Pittman) opt not to return toAnd Just Like That’scast, characters like Seema and Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) are gaining prominence, and stories like Artold’s help give them more footing in the show.
Seema’s relationship with Artold provides her with a connection that extends beyond Carrie or the other originalSex and the Citycharacters.It signals that Seema is aSex and the Citycharacter in her own right. That said,And Just Like Thatcut Seema’s connection to her boss, Elliott(John Glover), so Artold could take his place.
Increasingly,Seema is becoming Samantha Jones’ replacement, and her more robust role in the story supports this. At the end of “Present Tense,” Carrie goes to meet with her girls after her breakup, as she traditionally did inSex and the City.Miranda and Charlotte are at the restaurant, but so is Seema, completing the table of four inAnd Just Like That.
