Drophas passed a box office milestone. The Blumhouse thriller, which was directed by Christopher Landon, stars Meghann Fahy as a woman named Violet whose first date with Henry (Brandon Sklenar) goes horribly wrong whenan unknown villain sends drop files to her phone that threaten her son and demand that she kill her date. Critics' reactions have been largely positive, earning it a Certified Fresh 84% Rotten Tomatoes score alongside an 80% audience score. Are there aspects of Drop that seem too convenient and outlandish? Yes. But that’s not worth discussing because the film’s thrills, performances, and pacing are just so good. It’s an exceptionally fun film that will play well with audiences. It’s the kind of film that not only makes for a great theatrical experience but will also make you want to watch it again immediately afterward to see what you missed the first time. PerDeadline, as of Saturday morning,Dropis projected to close out its third weekend in theaters with a 3-day total of $950,000 at the domestic box office. This pushes its cumulative domestic total to $15.8 million,allowing it to pass the $15 million domestic milestone. This is more than $4 million higher than its $11 million budget, though its price tag means that its break-even point is most likely somewhere around $27.5 million. It could very well hit this goal, as it has already grossed more than $22 million worldwide.
It Has Surpassed Other 2025 Genre Titles

The new Blumhouse thriller has now become the 27th 2025 release to pass the $15 million domestic milestone so far. Though theDropreleasecould continue to climb up the chart,it has already surpassed the domestic grosses of quite a few new release horror and thriller moviesincluding Steven Soderbergh’sPresence($6.9 million), the Finn Wolfhard co-directed slasherHell of a Summer($3.2 million), and A24’sOpus($1.99 million). However, it is a far cry from the highest-grossing horror or thriller release of the year so far, which is the runaway hitSinners($119.5 million).
