Although he began his journey as one of the franchise’s most powerful ninjas, Kawaki has struggled to maintain the role as theBoruto: Two Blue Vortexmanga has progressed. The once-mighty ex-Kara member was a warrior who struck fear and commanded respect. Lamentably, he did not maintain this status for long, mostly due to a lack of commitment on his part.

After the time-skip that occurred at the end of the original series, the boy became complacent, ultimately becoming another ofthe many underpowered ninjas in the series. Although Kawaki might have been seen as weak during most of theTwo Blue Vortexmanga so far, the time for his much-needed powerup has finally arrived. Nonetheless, this decision does not hint at a bright future for the heroes.

Boruto and Kawaki fight at the beginning of the series chapter 1

Kawaki Is Now More Powerful Than Ever

Amado’s Limiters Were Truly Holding Him Back

While working on creating a perfect vessel to revive his daughter, the scientist Amado experimented with several orphan children kidnapped and raised by the terrorist organization Kara. Among these infants, Kawaki stands out as the most significant, both for the man who augmented his body and the overall plot of theBorutomanga. However, Naruto’s adopted son has never been able to achieve his full potential, due to the limitations placed on him. Recently, these limiters were finally removed, as indicated in chapter #15 of theTwo Blue Vortexmanga, giving the boy an impressive powerup.

During the latest entry, chapter #23,Kawaki was allowed to demonstrate his full power by joining the ongoing battle between Boruto and Jura. Despite his contributions during the fight being small, seeing as he only arrived moments before the end of the chapter, the difference between his current and old power levels has proven to be abysmal. Jura, the leader ofthe most powerful villain in theNarutofranchise, the Divine Trees, is a creature whose strength and durability vastly surpass any other warrior.

Kawaki speaks with Boruto during their fight against Jura.

Boruto, who became a truly imposing warrior thanks to his training with Kashin Koji, was unable to cause any lasting damage to the villain. Yet, in a couple of attacks,Kawaki managed to overwhelm the Divine Tree, shocking everyone who was observing the fight. The boy has become a terrifying opponent, one who could have already surpassed Boruto. While it can be said that his underserved powerupbrings up an old issue that has long plagued the series, it is undeniable that Kawaki might be the Shinobi World’s final hope against Jura.

Kawaki’s New Power Is Cause for Concern

His New Abilities Greatly Resemble the Ones Fans Saw in Chapter #1

Ever since the first chapter of theBorutomanga was released, fans have been aware that the series will at one point depict the final battle between the titular hero and Kawaki. The boy can be cordial and support each other when needed, but their fates will inevitably lead to a tragic falling out that will ultimately destroy Konoha. When theTwo Blue Vortexseries began, fans imagined that the confrontation between brothers would not occur for many years, as Kawaki was nowhere near strong enough to be a real threat to the protagonist.

Once Jura and the Divine Trees are out of the way, Kawaki will not need to continue his alliance with Boruto.

Jura says love causes people to act foolish by intervening with their intelligence.

Chapter #23 might be a sign that this catastrophic event is closer than ever, which means the heroes need to prepare for a major tragedy. Kawaki is no longer limited by the restraints Amado placed on him, meaning there are not many people in theNarutoworld who can keep him in line. Other thanthe most powerful characters in the series, like Boruto or Jura, none of the other fighters represent a challenge for the cyborg. If he were to betray the Ninja World, only the protagonist would be able to stop him.

Furthermore, Kawaki was depicted using a black bo-staff during the brief battle against Jura in chapter #23, the same weapon he was holding during the premonition of chapter #1. Once Jura and the Divine Trees are out of the way, Kawaki will not need to continue his alliance with Boruto. He is already strong enough to not only challenge his former friend but likely beat him in combat. Although future chapters might reveal this is not the case, the final battle may be coming faster than readers first imagined.

Boruto Will Come To Regret Helping Kawaki

The Boy Is Still Unaware of the Damage His Actions Will Cause

As the story of theBoruto: Two Blue Vortexmanga has progressed, readers have learned that the titular protagonist holds little to no regard for his safety. The boy has repeated several times that he is willing to die, or allow Kawaki to kill him, if he can help his family and friends live in a better world. Despite being framed, he no longer holds the desire to prove his innocence, allowing the rest of the Shinobi World to believe that he isthe one who supposedly killed Naruto. Helping Kawaki unlock his potential is the result of this mentality.

Boruto is aware that his brother wishes to end his life, as doing so would prevent Momoshiki from resurrecting once again, and he seems to agree with the idea. In the hero’s eyes, giving Kawaki his power back would only be beneficial for the rest of the world. The cyborg will help him defeat Jura and will later preventthe powerful members of the Otsutsuki clanfrom taking over the planet. Woefully, his fate in Kawaki will soon be broken, as chapter #1 proves the boy will use his powers to try and destroy the world.

Will Jura Be the One To Convince Kawaki?

The Cyborg Still Does Not Seem To Hate Ninjas as a Whole

Even though Kawaki has proven to be just as powerful as the version of himself seen in chapter #1 of theBorutoseries, there is still a major difference between these two iterations of the character. The cyborg currently has no distaste for the Ninja World, solely the Otsutsuki clan and the threat they present to the world. Still, the series hints at a drastic ideological shift occurring for his character soon, as the reason for his fight against Boruto is the desire to destroy civilization as they know it.

Seeing as Jura is a being motivated by the desire to understand and explore the world around him, it could be possible that his philosophy about the dangers of human nature will be what changes Kawaki’s mind. Their interactions in future chapters will be vital for the progress of the story, since the cyborg might become a villain sooner than expected, according to what Jura and he talk about.
