“Mitosis” Was Initially Published Back In 2013
Tailored Realitieswill contain a mix of fiction that Sanderson has already published elsewhere and new content — most notably, his new novella,Moment Zero— and it even returns readers to the settings of his previous stories. AlthoughMistbornandThe Stormlight Archiveare among the author’s best-known works, he has a wealth of novels to draw from.
The collection’s contents will feature narratives from both theSkywarduniverse andThe Reckonersworld.

According toMacmillan’s breakdown ofTailored Realities, the collection’s contents will feature narratives from both theSkywarduniverse andThe Reckonersworld. The latter is especially exciting, even if “Mitosis” was already published back in 2013. For those who missed it, it’s an opportunity to dig back into his YA superhero story, years after its conclusion.
And for those who aren’t caught up onall of Sanderson’s books, it’s an incentive to read more from the author. Sanderson is best known for his sprawling adult fantasy sagas, but his standalones and young adult series are just as masterfully crafted. The Reckonersis a fun change of pace for him, andit’s great thatTailored Realitiescan draw more attention to it.

Readers Will Know The Universes Sanderson Is Including In His Collection
Knowing thatTailored Realitieswill feature “Mitosis,“it’s a great time to dive intoThe Reckonersuniverse, especially if you haven’t already. Sanderson ishard at work onMistbornEra 3, and he has other releases planned in the lead-up to the next chapter. But the lack of newStormlightandMistbornsequels offers an opportunity to check out other titles from his backlist, too.

And anyone diving into Sanderson’s short fiction for the first time in December will benefit from knowing the two universes he’s including in his upcoming book. WithTailored Realitiesslated for the end of the year, there’s plenty of time to get throughThe Reckonerstrilogy beforehand. The books are relatively short compared to Sanderson’s standard fare, and they’re fast-paced.
Additionally,The Reckonersseries just doesn’t get enough love, so it’s great that readers have a new reason to check them out.The YA series is easily Sanderson’s most underrated, but it’s surprising it hasn’t taken off more in this age of anti-superhero media. Hopefully,Tailored Realitieswill help introduce more readers to it.
The Reckoners Is Brandon Sanderson’s Most Underrated Series
This Superhero Series Is Great For Fans Of The Boys
The Reckonersseries may not be as expansive or well-known as Sanderson’s bigger titles, butit deserves way more love in bookish spaces. Opening withSteelheart, the story takes place in a world where an event called Calamity grants certain humans extraordinary abilities. Unfortunately, a lust for power accompanies those gifts.
This causes the Epics to do some heinous things, and readers followSteelheart’s main character as he joins a resistance group committed to getting rid of these superhuman threats. The whole thing feels a lot like the premise ofThe Boys, andSanderson’s revenge story is a great choice for fans of such shows.
It also boasts his usual impressive world-building and characterization, as well as a gripping and fast-paced narrative that will keep readers invested. It’s surprising this isn’t more praised withinBrandon Sanderson’s lineup, but perhaps the looming release date ofTailored Realitieswill entice more readers to give it a try.
