If I could come up with a wishlist forCall of Duty: Black Ops 7, most of it would be pie-in-the-sky asks. It’s clear that monetization efforts forCall of Dutywill continue to ramp up, as it andFortniteduke it out for who can incorporate the most IP. However, given that the variousCall of Dutyteams at the mega-publisher have implemented numerous positive quality of life changes over the years, wanting a better loadout system is entirely reasonable.
Details forBlack Ops 7are scant at the moment. We know some of the cast, and potential leakssuggest new multiplayer modes, while the campaign will serve asa direct continuation ofBlack Ops 2. Many elements ofBlack Ops 7look good on paper, butthere’s some unfinished business to take care of that’s been piling up for quite a while.

COD Weapon Loadouts Could Use A Complete Overhaul
We Need A Simpler System
Over time, theCall of DutyUI added extra clicks and pressesto get to where you need to go, and it’s constantly taking me out of the game. While it’s not unique to the latest entry,Call of Duty: Black Ops6 has a loadout problem, especially if you play multiple modes or prestige regularly. At launch, I dealt with many bugs that either completely erased my loadouts, or reworked them without my knowledge. There is simply too much stuffed into this system at this point.
Restrictions are a massive issue when it comes to blueprints. Having more restrictions is antithetical to the player freedom that the series typically provides.Having to go into the UI and swap attachments aroundcan be a tremendous pain, and juggling blueprints (which are often linked to paid DLC) can make things even more of a headache. At launch,Call of Duty: Black Ops 6had numerous bugs that needed to be addressed, and hopefully, that isn’t the case for the follow-up.

There’s a lot to keep track of when you add hundreds of different attachments to the game, and not everything works as it should. Each season, I encounter some bug that either prevents me from using specific items, or presents itself as a visual glitch that I need to Google to get to the bottom of.Even as late as May of this year, there were attachment and blueprint bugs to fix. Some loadout bugsare still under investigationnearly a year afterBlack Ops 6launched.
One of the most obvious issues withBlack Ops 6blueprintsdeals directly with onesthat are “pay to lose.“A select few blueprints/attachments look cool in the store, but once you get a chance to see them in-game, they obstruct your ADS (aim down sight) view. It’s the sort of thing that should never happen in a big game like this, but slips through due to the blueprint bloat.

COD: Black Ops 7 Has The Chance To Fix Loadouts
Cool It On Blueprints
WhenCall of Duty: Black Ops 7arrives later in 2025,there’s a chance to hit the reset button on loadouts. While it would be great to see other bits of content carry over (especially skins/characters),Black Ops 7will have a new array of 2035-themed weaponry, all of which will differ from the tools provided inBlack Ops 6. There’s also an opportunity to streamline the UI, allowing players to easily divine loadouts for every core mode.
Customization is king inCall of Duty, andBlack Ops 7will likely continue that legacy. Whatever form that may take, I hope we see fewer blueprints overall, allowing players to focus on actually using loadouts instead of figuring out if they own a specific blueprint or not. The less time spent in menus, the better.
