On June 26, one of the world’s top streamers, Dr DisRespect, was permanently banned from Twitch with no reason given as to why. Each development in the Dr DisRespect story just creates more questions than answers, and so fans are eager for some explanation. A crazy new theory making the rounds online claims to reveal exactly why Dr DisRespect was banned fromTwitch, but it doesn’t really hold up to scrutiny.
The theory seems to have originated from a 4chan post made by an anonymous user. According to the post, Dr DisRespect, Ninja, and Shroud are in talks to launch a new streaming platform run by Spotify and Google. Dr DisRespect then contacted various Twitch streamers about the project to talk them into jumping ship, which Twitch found out about. Twitch then terminatedDr DisRespect’s contractand plans on filing lawsuits against Google. The anonymous poster claims to know this because they are a former Twitch system administrator who recently resigned from the company due to these events.

While this is an interesting theory, it can be debunked pretty much right away by the simple fact that Google doesn’t own Spotify. It also seems like if Dr DisRespect was trying to poach other streamers that someone would have said something by now, especially given how much drama has surrounded the Dr DisRespect ban and how desperate people are to know more information. Furthermore, Ninja and Shroud were just recently let go fromMicrosoft’s now-defunct Mixer streaming service, and Dr DisRespect signed an exclusivity contract with Twitch back in March. So while it’s an interesting theory, it’s also a bit weak. Not only that, but reputable industry insider Rod Breslau has suggested that the conspiracy theory is false.
As for the supposed streaming service that Dr DisRespect was going to be a part of alongside Ninja and Shroud, it will apparently be called Brime. This is based on a Twitter account called Brime, but it’s possible that it doesn’t even really exist and has just been created as an elaborate troll. Evidently, the Brime Twitter account will be making an announcement on Monday, June 29, so if it truly is going to be a streaming service to rival the likes of Twitch and will have the involvement ofNinja and Shroud, then we won’t have to wait all that much longer to find out more information.
For those that haven’t been following the situation closely, it all started withDr DisRespect’s bizarre final Twitch stream. At the end of the stream, the Doc appears to receive some concerning news via text and becomes visibly upset. His entire mood and demeanor changes before signing off, and then not long after that, Twitch permanently banned his account. Dr DisRespect maintained radio silence on social media following the ban, fueling speculation that it could be something serious.
However, Dr DisRespect finally tweeted late on June 27, claiming thatTwitch has not told him the reason he was banned. Rod Breslau claims to know, but has decided not to share anything due to the sensitive nature of the subject. So Dr DisRespect fans aren’t any closer to knowing the truth, which is only going to lead to more conspiracy theories as they try to come up with answers themselves.
