The following article contains a brief discussion of suicide.
Dandadanseason 2 is still on a hot streak with episode #14, and it left plenty to be excited about with episode #15 and beyond. The Evil Eye arc is slowly shaping up to be the anime’s best arc to date, and with how much season 2 is set to revolve around it, that’s nothing but great to see.
InDandadanepisode #14, as Jiji helped Momo and Okarun break out of their psychotic trances, the group encountered the Evil Eye, a spirit that Turbo Granny said was just as bad as the Mongolian Death Worm. Nevertheless, Jiji decided to help the Evil Eye after learning about his past with the Kito family, but it quickly became apparent that Turbo Granny was right to warn them about the Evil Eye. Things have escalated to an even higher degree than before in the best of ways, and there’s no telling how it will all play out in the end.

Dandadan Episode 13 Review: A Perfect Return To Form
Dandadan Episode 13 In Review
It’s been six months sinceDandadanseason 1ended, and fortunately, that hasn’t affected season 2 in the slightest. Visually speaking, the premiere is already showing off plenty of great action and animation that’s at least on par with season 1, and the new theme songs have somehow far surpassed the original ones in general creativity. That’s saying a lot, considering how great season 1 was, and hopefully, it will stay like that for weeks to come.
Naturally, the story was just as fun. Between how quickly the conflict with the Kito family escalated, the ever-growing mystery of Jiji’s circumstances, and the same great comedy and character writing that made season 1 such a hit, there was plenty of fun to be had with the writing that more than made up for the lengthy wait. Overall,Dandadanseason 2had as great a premiere as a person could hope for, and sure enough, episode #14 was even better.

What Happened In Dandadan Episode 14?
Produced By Science Saru; Directed By Yoshihiko Mori
InDandadanepisode #14, “The Evil Eye”, after fighting off Okarun’s sudden assault on him, Jiji then had to restrain Okarun and Momo as their psychotic breakdown suddenly had them trying to kill themselves. Turbo Granny explained that the Mongolian Death Worm emitted psychic waves that compelled people to commit suicide, and Jiji realized that it was the reason his parents suddenly tried to kill themselves.
With Jiji the only one with his sanity intact, he tried and failed to get everyone away from the Mongolian Death Worm, but just when it seemed like it was over for them, the spirit that haunted Jiji appeared and attacked it with his own psychic waves. That was enough to restore Momo and Okarun’s sanity, but Turbo Granny warned them thatthe new spirit, the Evil Eye, was just as bad and couldn’t be trusted.

Okarun took advantage of the situation to launch a massive attack against the Mongolian Death Worm, but it quickly regenerated, forcing Momo and Jiji to run away again. As they did, the Evil Eye used his powers to reveal his past as a sacrifice to Jiji and how he was twisted into a being of pure hatred over the Kito family’s repeated use of human sacrifices over 200 years.
Jiji, feeling sympathetic for the Evil Eye, found the altar he was buried in and offered to be his friend by letting him possess him. The Evil Eye happily did just that and then proceeded to beat back the Mongolian Death Worm and force it to retreat, but unfortunately, he then said he would use Jiji’s body to kill all of humanity.

As it turned out, the Evil Eye’s hatred of the Kitos had been twisted into a hatred of humanity as a whole, and after sensing Jiji’s latent spiritual abilities, he tricked Jiji into sympathizing with him so he could possess his body. Momo’s attempts at fighting back against the Evil Eye quickly fell apart due to his overwhelming power, but before Momo could get too hurt,Okarun arrived to save Momo and fight the Evil Eye himself.
Dandadan Amps Up Its Drama And Action In The Best Of Ways
What Made Dandadan Episode 14 Great
Dandadanseason 2 had a fantastic premiere, and sure enough, episode #14 was even better. While there wasn’t a lot of action, the few scenes that did feature it were filled with gorgeous animation, with the scene of the Evil Eye fighting the Mongolian Death Worm especially standing out for its incredible quality and gorgeous keyframes.
Naturally, the Evil Eye was also a major standout of episode #14. The way his backstory played out immediately made him sympathetic, but at the same time, his manipulations of Jiji and his assault on Momo also make it clear that he’s still a villain; it’s a perfect balance of positive and negative traits, and it’s already doing wonders to make the Evil Eye into a great antagonist.
It’s a perfect balance of positive and negative traits, and it’s already doing wonders to make the Evil Eye into a great antagonist.
If any character stood out in episode #14, however, it was Jiji. Between how far he went to protect Momo and Okarun and the compassion he held for the Evil Eye, as misplaced as it was,Dandadanepisode #14 does a perfect job of highlighting Jiji’s compassionate and helpful nature, and it’s made him the most endearing he’s been since his debut. Overall,Dandadanepisode #14 perfectly continues season 2’s momentum, and hopefully, that will continue into episode #15, as well.
Be sure to watchDandadanepisode #15 when it releases on Thursday, July 17.
