Nintendo Switch owners will be upset to learn that their trips to Lordran have been delayed. Bandai Namco announced today thatDark Souls Remasteredwon’t be coming to the console on its originally scheduled date, and has been pushed to summer 2018.
Without stating a clear reason, the officialDark SoulsTwitter instead blamed “the nature of causality,” which could mean pretty much anything. Regardless of whatever prompted the decision, the team assured players that the time will “ultimately be used to improve your journey to Lordran.” Meanwhile, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game are still on schedule to release on May 25.
The delay also extends to theSolaire of Astora amiibothat was planned to release at the same time. Solaire is one of the most recognizable characters in theDark Soulsfranchise, who has even become a bit of a meme due to his strangely optimistic nature and obsession with the sun. While, traditionally, amiibos can be utilized to give players a leg up in a variety of games, the Solaire amiibo merely allows players the ability to perform the iconic “Praise the sun!” gesture. Given the nature of the series to be brutally difficult, the amiibo not being all the helpful comes as no real surprise, and is actually rather fitting.
From Software’s dark fantasy RPG wasannounced for Switchvia a mini Nintendo Direct back in January. The Switch version will play the game at 1080p resolution with 30 FPS while in TV mode. The development ofDark Souls: Remasteredhas been handed over to Polish-based studio QLOC, with assistance from Bandai Namco. The game will include theArtorias of the AbyssDLC, which takes players to the land of Oolacile, when it releases this summer.
Dark Souls Remasteredwill be available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 25, with the Switch version releasing some time in summer 2018.
