The film picks up with everyone being thrown into the Infinity Castle for the final battle against Muzan, and from there, the film showcases Zenitsu’s fight with Kaigaku, a fellow apprentice of his master turned Upper Rank Kizuki, and Shinobu’s death at the hands of Douma before ending withTanjiro and Giyu’s victory over Akaza.
None of that should be surprising to anyone who read the manga, of course. The Infinity Castle arc can be roughly split up into three sections, each one ending with the death of one of the Upper Rank Kizuki, so if the arc is being adapted as a film trilogy, thenDemon Slayer: Infinity Castlecould only go up to Akaza’s death to maintain the arc’s pacing in animation.

Reportedly,Infinity Castledoesn’t have much to set up its sequels, but there are some scenes people should pay attention to. After Shinobu’s death, Kanao shows up and begins fighting Douma, which sets up the main conflict for the second film, and Kokushibo briefly appears to comment on Akaza’s death, which reminds people of his existence and reaffirms his status as the last opponent before Muzan.
All of that was present in the manga, so at least going by the spoilers on social media, there isn’t anything new in the way of setup for the sequels. Even so, based oninitial reactions to theInfinity Castlefilm,Demon Slayer: Infinity Castleis a film that will more than live up to its hype, and hopefully, its sequels will be the same.
