AlthoughDisney Dreamlight Valleyis generally a haven of joy and companionship, some characters struggle with these sentiments. Originating from his secluded castle in the Beauty and the Beast realm, the Beast is still acclimating to life in Dreamlight Valley.
To aid in this adjustment, the player plans a series of activities involving the Beast and various village residents, aiming to foster friendships based on mutual interests. This guide will cover all the essential steps for completing the quest “Be Our Friend” inDisney Dreamlight Valley.
How to Start “Be Our Friend”
TheDisney Dreamlight Valleyquest"Be Our Friend"unlocks upon reachingFriendship Level 4withThe Beast. The player can reach this level by giving The Beast his favorite gifts daily, having conversations, and avariety of other methods.
Get Books for Belle
Upon accepting the quest “Be Our Friend,”the player learns that The Beast wants toacquire some booksfor Belle. Since the Beast is hesitant about talking toMerlin the enchanter, the player agrees to retrieve them from Merlin’s library.
To retrieve the three books, head to Merlin’s House. The books needed for the quest are found on the floor of the library, and are sparkling and purple, making them easy to locate. Grab these books and bring them to Belle at the castle.
Deliver the Books
When the books are delivered, Belle expresses her gratitude and brings up how the Beast has become shy. According to her, his isolation in the castle has impacted his social skills. She then hatches a plan to find friends for the Beast, with the player selectingWALL-E and Mirabelas potential candidates.
Speak to WALL-E and Mirabel
The player is tasked with visitingWALL-Eand Mirabelto find out if they are willing to meet the Beast. Upon meeting with Mirabel, she is enthusiastic about the idea and agrees to meet The Beast. WALL-E is initially hesitant, but the player manages to convince him that The Beast is harmless. After securing their agreement, return to the Beast, who admits to being nervous but is willing to go through with one of the meetings. The player then has the option to choose between WALL-E and Mirabel for The Beast’s first friend meetup.
The quest’s end result remains the same regardless of the choice. However, the meeting with the non-selected character won’t be available to experience. Therefore, the player should opt for the character they find most intriguing.

Pick Mirabel or WALL-E for the Meeting
The player can haveThe Beastmeet up withWALL-E, sensing that the Beast and WALL-E might bond over gardening. To make this a productive day, the Beast accompanies the player toplant and harvest 10 crops. Quick-growing seeds are preferable, including Wheat, Carrots, and others readily available atGoofy’s Stallin Peaceful Meadow. Once the crash-course in farming is complete, meet WALL-E and the Beast for their initial interaction.
Unfortunately, the meeting doesn’t go as planned. The Beast wasn’t informed that WALL-E is a robot incapable of clear conversation, and believes he’s receiving all the wrong signals regarding their potential compatibility. The Beast assumes the meetup is a failure, prompting the player to rethink their strategy.

Alternatively, the player can choose to haveThe BeastandMirabelmeet. Instead of trying to bond over gardening, The Beast and Mirabel instead focus on her interest in sewing. For this meeting, the player will need to head to a crafting table andmake the following items:
Once these materials have been crafted, hand them over to The Beast, and follow them to witness their conversation. Mirabel shares that she would like help with a quilt, but The Beast gives up right from the start, stating that he doesn’t have the skills needed. The player should then speak with the much-dismayed prince to plan their next approach.
Speak to Kristoff
To better match the Beast’s friendship preferences, the player suggests spending time withKristoff, who happens to be planning a fishing contest. In the past, Kristoff has confessed to a lack of social skills, making him comparable to the Beast in this regard. Inform the Beast about the plan to meet up with Kristoff, then embark on the fishing quest. The player is responsible for the contest entries, and will need to catch the following fish:

Catching the Fish
Saltwater fish are caught in the Valley’s ocean, so the player will need to head toDazzle Beach. Here,fish for the Herring in white pools at Dazzle Beach, then catch any one other fish from the pools or the open sea. Keep an eye out for orange pools, as thesecan contain Swordfish, which will count for the “Fish of 3 lbs. or more” objective.
Freshwater fish, on the other hand, can be caught in the valley’s rivers and ponds. Travel to thePeaceful Meadow, and fish for theBreamin Blue Pools. The player can then catch any one other fish from open water or pools in the biome to meet the freshwater fish objective.
Kristoff’s request for a fish of a specific weight is a strange requirement, as the game doesn’t actually show a record of the weight of each fish in the collection. Instead, this value is shown only when a fish is caught. However, there are certain species which are always on the heavier side that can be caught to meet this objective, includingSwordfishandBass.
Witness the Conversation Between The Beast and Kristoff
Once the fish have been caught, return to the castle and find the Beast and Kristoff engrossed in a conversation about fishing. Speak to the Beast, who is elated with his new friendship. He appreciatesKristoff’s quiet natureand feels comfortable in the silence they share. With this, the quest"Be Our Friend"concludes, and the next quest is unlocked upon reaching Friendship Level 7 with the Beast.
