Disney Dreamlight Valleyhas hundreds of furniture and decor items. Regular updates continually introduce fun new ways to decorate the Valley, drawing inspiration from Disney franchises throughout the years. The cozy life sim has plenty of other ways to interact with iconic Disney characters and the Valley where they coexist, but the decorating element is my (and many other fans') favorite part of the game.

Decorating inDreamlight Valleyis a fairly straightforward process that consists of opening the Furniture Menu and placing items wherever you want them in the world. But aSurvey Monkeysurvey from Gameloft reveals that the developer is at leastconsidering a potential overhaul that would improve the decorating system. The idea’s appearance in the survey doesn’t guarantee that it’s a change that will actually be made in the game, but if enough fans show an interest,Dreamlight Valleymay eventually get a decorating upgrade that will be entirely game-changing.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Considering Adding A Template Decorating Mode

Remove The Need For Furniture Mode

At the moment, decorating is as easy as opening the decorating part of the inventory. This immediately zooms out to an overview of the Valley and shows you the items you can place. No matter where your character is, you can move the view anywhere in the game world, zoom in or out, and shift the angle for a better view of your work in progress. This allows players toplace elements down and immediately see what they look like live in their Valley.

However, the system is very slow and bogged down by simple elementslike placing paths. Also, the more items you have on display, the harder it can be to see what you’re placing and where. Gameloft has tried to change this aspect of the game in the past, with mixed results.

Now, it seems that the studio may be looking at upgrading the decor placement feature once again, this time with the aim of simplifying and removing the need to use the decor placing mode in the first place. One of the survey options asks fans to note how interested they are in:

“A template feature allowing for easier decorating of the valleywithout needing to open furniture mode.”

There’s no other information about this potential system, but even from this brief description, I’m extremely intrigued. A “template mode” opens upso many possibilities for an intuitive Valley designing experiencethat will speed up the process and allow for more control of item placement.

Potential Changes to Dreamlight Valley Decorating Would Be Game-Changing

Easier, More Precise Valley Decorating May Be On The Way

The implications of a template-based decorating mode are huge. Without more information, I’m just guessing at how this might look, but I’m picturing asystem like inAnimal Crossing Pocket Camp, where you cansave different preset layoutsfor your Plaza and each unlocked area. Imagine creating the perfect fall harvest festival look, and then saving it for use when fall rolls around again the following year.

It would also be so much easier and more efficient to have a simple system that takes the large Valley and breaks it down into a grid-based model instead of the full thing. This would theoretically allow players to place furniture pieces, like placing pieces on a chessboard, to be refined once the placement is finalized.Paths and other elements that span large areas would be a breeze to set up, especially if you could just select an area and fill it in, instead ofpainstakingly going one row at a time, which is how it works now.

“Imagine seeing a Plaza layout you love and recreating it from a template.”

It might even be possible toapply preset or player-made templates.Imagine seeing a Plaza layout you love and recreating it from a template (or at least, getting started on it with whatever furniture you have available on hand). Players like me wholove the look of awesome designsbut have no idea where to even begin to create them from scratch would also benefit hugely from a feature like this.

Whether Gameloft actually implements this new feature maydepend on how much fan interest it gathersin the studio’s currently ongoing survey. You can fill out the brief survey to show your support for this “template mode,” as well as provide input on other aspects of the game, like which Disney franchises should appear in the title next.Disney Dreamlight Valleyhas a good track record of listening to fan feedback, so a high interest in this new, potentially game-changing feature may lead to its arrival in the Valley.
