Doctor Whofans experienced a major disappointment recently, but it could actually be the biggest sign of hope that season 16 could happen. Since theend ofDoctor Whoseason 15, fans have been playing the waiting game.Disney hasn’t stated whether they’re renewing the co-production deal with the BBC.

If they don’t move forward, the BBC will have to decide whether to partner with someone else, move back to producing it alone, or cancel the show. There’s a lot of conflicting information online and in interviews about thefuture ofDoctor Who. Unfortunately, this isn’t the only recent disappointment forDoctor Whofans.

Fans Are Already Upset About Doctor Who Leaving HBO Max

Doctor Whohas been off HBO Max for under a week, and fans outside the UK are already extremely bummed that they can’t escape into the world of Doctor Who, riding the TARDIS and facing the Doctor’s biggest nemeses. I’m lucky enough to own the Revival Who DVDs, but others aren’t so fortunate as to have access to episodes.

Some fans, who are too busy to keep up with all the entertainment news, found out the hard way thatDoctor Whowas removed from HBO Maxon August 1st. What’s worse, the show left its previous streaming site without the BBC announcing a new home for the show. As such, we’re just left waiting for news about where to watchDoctor Who.

Until it finds a new home, fans will sadly have to shell out money to purchase Revival Who seasons. However, not all hope is lost. While it’s a hard hit for international fans, the disappointing change actually gives me a kernel of hope aboutDoctor Whoseason 16.

The Backlog Of Doctor Who Seasons Could Guarantee Another Co-Production Deal

Considering the popularity of Revival Who, especiallyRTD’sDoctor Whoseasons, most streaming sites would probably love to get the entirety of that era. It would bring in a massive fanbase that’s extremely dedicated to the show.

The BBC is likely using the 13 seasons to sweeten the pot for any potential partnerswho might be interested in doing a co-production deal forDoctor Whoseason 16. Rumors have gone around about Netflix or Amazon as possibilities, though they’re unsubstantiated at this point. The backlog could be a deciding factor for Disney or a different streaming giant.

If I’m correct, the previous seasons will debut on a new streamer once the co-prod agreement is announced. Additionally, if Revival Who debuts on a platform beforeDoctor Whoseason 16 is confirmed, that could be a hint for fans about who might be the co-production partner.
