One star ofDune: Prophecyhas addressed whether a key member of the Atreides family will be coming back in season 2 of the sci-fi spinoff.Dune: Prophecyseason 2is set to continue the prequel’s exploration of the Bene Gesserit’s origins, with the story of the Sisterhood expanding. However, it’s unclear how many characters and elements will be returning.

In an interview withScreenRantforThe Rainmaker, actorMilo Callaghan, who played Orry Atreides, unpacked whether he would return forDune: Prophecyseason 2. He explained how his character’s death in season 1 makes it difficult for him to return, but that he’d be open to coming back if it served story importance. Check out what Callaghan said below:

Young Tula (Emma Canning) and her boyfriend Orry Atreides (Milo Callaghan) in Dune: Prophecy Season 1 Ep 3

ScreenRant: You were in my favorite episode of Dune: Prophecy. I still mourn for Orry Atreides. Why did this happen? But there’s going to be a season 2, so could there be more flashbacks? Could we have some Dune-style Gholas, and would you want to step back into that universe?

Milo Callaghan: Horrible! It was horrible what happened. But I think never say never. I loved those guys. It was such a pleasure to work on that show, and to work with Emma Canning [who plays young Tula] as well. It felt like the most expensive short film I’d ever made, and it was three of us in a room at all times.

Orry (Milo Callaghan), Tula’s boyfriend in Dune: Prophecy Season 1 Ep 3

It was a gift of a learning experience for me, and I would happily go back and serve that story, if there were something that came up for Orry.

What Callaghan’s Response Means For Orry Atreides in Dune: Prophecy Season 2

Callaghan joined thecast ofDune: Prophecyin episode 3, wherein Orry was in a romantic relationship with a young Tula Harkonnen. The pair were shown attending a Caladan bull-hunt, after which he proposes to her. However, one night, she kills his family before killing him too, having sought revenge for what House Atreides did to her ancestors.

Orry’s role was very small in the larger story of the series, but served to emphasize the gray area under which everyone in theDuneuniverse operates. His death was an important reminder of the millennium-long conflict between Atreides and Harkonnen, something that’s been a defining staple of the series' movie adaptations and TV spinoff.

Callaghan is open to returning despite appearing in just one episode, but how Orry joins the series' larger narrative is unclear. However,Dune: Prophecyseason 1 endedwith the most important Atreides beingDesmond, who is revealed to be Tula and Orry’s son.Although how he’d appear remains unclear, this could give him a bigger role in season 2.

Our Take On Callaghan Possibly Coming Back As Orry Atreides in Dune: Prophecy Season 2

As of writing, Callaghan’s next project is the ongoingThe RainmakerTV show, an adaptation of John Grisham’s novel of the same name. There’s no word yet on whether he’ll be coming back forDune: Prophecy. But, given Desmond’s parentage and how important he’ll be in season 2, it opens the door for the actor’s potential return.

Depending on the story progression ofDune: Prophecy, the series could feature him as a brief returnee. However, with the series' focus now on building to the formation of the Bene Gesserit in earnest, it seems like Orry wouldn’t have too massive a role if he did come back. Even so, Callaghan’s willingness to return means he could appear again.
