Armchair detectives are out in force trying to figure out the next N64 games coming toNintendo Switch Online. Nintendo’s online service has a steady supply of new emulations of classic games, mostly from the company’s retro consoles (alongside Sega’s Genesis).

As reported byNintendo Life, fans are taking a closer look at an NSO trailer from May 2025, trying to decipher which Nintendo 64 games may be hidden in the background. VTuberImakuniappears to be leading the charge, with their community analyzing the blurred N64 library in the background of a video showing the new CRT filter available on the Switch 2. So far, fans think they’ve uncoveredDonkey Kong 64,Super Smash Bros.,Forsaken 64,Glover, andRayman 2as possible unannounced titles coming to NSO.

Explaining The Fan Theories

De-Blurring N64 Box Art

The sleuths have been taking a keen look at the Features Update trailerNintendouploaded in May, which announced the Rewind, CRT Filter, and button re-mapping features that came to the N64 games on NSO. A brief clip, around the 40-second mark, shows where the CRT Filter can be found in the settings, the menu for which overlays the N64 library, a collage of box art.

The overlay blurs the library page significantly, butthe diligent detectives have been matching the colored smudges to Nintendo 64 box art. The video above, from Twitter userBetonoguau, shows the box art over their positions in the library, with a scaling blur effect to show how well they match. Among the suspected games are a fewN64 classics not yet on NSO.

How Likely Are These NSO Games?

Only Nintendo Knows What’s Coming Next

There’s no way to say definitively if these games are on their way to theN64 classics library, but there are some likely suspects. The originalSuper Smash Bros. feels like an obvious one that should already be on the service, even thoughMelee’s NSO absenceis felt more.Donkey Kong 64is in a similar boat, especially sinceDonkey Kong Bananzaarrives later this month, and is the first 3D platformer for DK sinceDK64.Rayman 2is another classic that feels like a no-brainer addition.

Expectations should probably be tempered, though;there’s no definitive proof that the box art’s apparent inclusion in the Features Update trailer means they will be added to the library. It’s an impressive investigation, but there’s always a chance these were just placeholder artworks for the purpose of the trailer. There could also be any number of issues that crop up in the emulation process, causing plans to be scuttled. Until there’s an official announcement for newNintendo Switch Onlineclassics, these five should be considered no more than potential candidates.
