Following the success of the animatedCastlevaniaNetflix series, gamers will soon be able to watch a TV show based on another popular video game property. Adi Shankar, the executive producer behind the aforementioned animated series, will be producing another animated TV series based onFar Cry 3: Blood Dragon.
CalledCaptain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Vibe, not much is currently known about the series. However, one detail that has come out regards its purpose as serving as a show that’s part of a greater multiverse. Indeed,Ubisoftplans on making multiple animated series that will be part of a shared Ubisoft universe. Watch Dogsis also getting an animated showin the form of a tween-friendly experience about a young hacker who attempts to solve mysteries at her high school. Given the upcoming release ofWatch Dogs Legion, it does not come as too much of a surprise that the franchise will be getting a television adaptation as well. Yet, Ubisoft added the caveat that “the animated television show involving hacking is inspired by the themes and ideas of theWatch Dogsbrand but it is not set in the same universe or tied to it directly.”
The idea of Ubisoft migrating its properties into the television realm is a very interesting choice altogether. While it’s tough to pinpoint an exact reason, the success of the animated Castlevania series may have been a huge factor in deciding to run with aFar Cry 3: Blood DragonTV adaptation. Furthermore, the inspiration for an adaptation forBlood Dragonis also at question, given the releases of multiple newFar Crygames since.
Tentative producer Shankar is involved with multiple projects at the moment, however. In addition to theFar Cry 3: Blood Dragonproject, Shakar may also be getting behind anupcomingAssassin’s Creedtelevision adaptation, as well as aLegend of ZeldaTV adaptation. Regardless of the reason for the shows' existence, many will be looking on as Ubisoft seeks to flesh out their TV adaptations of some of their most beloved properties.
