There’s been plenty of chatter in recent years about whetherStar Warswill make a Darth Vader show, but I’m convinced oneAnakin SkywalkerTV show would be a much better option for the franchise. It makes sense that audiences want a Vader show added toStar Warsmovies and TV shows.

While some feel thatAnakin’sStar Warstimelinehas dominated the franchise too much andStar Warsneeds to move on, there are still stories left to tell, such as Vader’s efforts to resurrect Padmé. Yet,there’s one Anakin Skywalker show that would make an even better addition than a Vader series.

Anakin Skywalker Looking Sad in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace

We Have A Gap Of 10 Years Between The Phantom Menace And Attack Of The Clones

AlthoughStar Wars: The Clone Warsprovided a significantly deeper look into the period betweenStar Wars: Episode II - Attack of the ClonesandStar Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, there’s next to nothing, on-screen or otherwise, set betweenStar Wars: Episode I - The Phantom MenaceandAttack of the Clones.

There’s next to nothing, on-screen or otherwise, set betweenStar Wars: Episode I - The Phantom MenaceandAttack of the Clones.

Notably, the period betweenAttack of the ClonesandRevenge of the Sithis also just a few years, whereas a full decade passes betweenThe Phantom MenaceandAttack of the Clones.GivenThe Clone Warsgot seven seasons out of a few years, there’s so much a show set between episodes 1 and 2 could do.

There would also be so much room for invention and creativity in such a show, as there’s little source material currently. The canon (and quite short) audiobook,Star Wars: Padawan’s Pride, written by Bryan Q. Miller, explores this period, and there are some comics that do as well, but generally, this era oftheStar Warstimelineis largely unknown.

This Would Be The Perfect Era To Explore In A Star Wars Show

It Would Require Recasts, But That’s Easy Enough For Star Wars

In addition to how much room there is to explore this era,a show set betweenThe Phantom MenaceandAttack of the Cloneswould reveal key details about Anakin, Obi-Wan, and so much more. For one, this would encapsulate essentially all of Anakin’s training, which is largely missing inStar Warscurrently.

Yet, this period is so important both to these characters and in the largerStar Warsstory. After all, Anakin goes from a sweet little boy inThe Phantom Menaceto an angry, bitter Padawan inAttack of the Clones, and we haven’t really seen how he gets there—and, no, it’s not just hormones.

This also wouldn’t just be important to understanding Anakin. InThe Phantom Menace, we see Obi-Wan struggle with the decision to train Anakin, and that would be fascinating to see played out on-screen. Even in terms of seeing how the Jedi Council’s interactions with Anakin change over time (and influence his fall to the dark side) would be intriguing.

This would require a recast of the prequel trilogy’s main characters, but that hardly feels like a serious obstacle forStar Wars. Particularly given how brilliantlyStar Warshas cast actors that really look and act like the older or younger versions of characters (little Leia inObi-Wan Kenobi, for one), that feels more than possible.

That isn’t to say I don’t want a Darth Vader show at some point; I absolutely do, and that feels worthwhile forStar Warsto explore. However, if I had to pick just one, I’d so much rather get anAnakin Skywalkershow set betweenThe Phantom MenaceandAttack of the Clones.
