Fortnitefans anticipating the launch of theHigh Stakes eventand week 9 challenges may be somewhat disappointed to learn these two aspects of the battle royale title have been delayed. Announced earlier today, some may also take solace in the fact that it is only for a couple of days, as players shall still be stealing jewels this coming weekend.
Patch v5.40 will now launch on Thursday, September 6, bringing the High Stakes event, getaway LTM, grappling gun, and more with it. Because this is pushed back, theFortniteseason 5 week 9 challenges are also being pushed back to Friday. Hopefully, this delay ensures everything with the new event and challenges works smoothly.
The primary reason for the delay is an unspecified critical controller issue. It makes sense that Epic Games would want to make sure this update goes according to plan considering everything planned for this next update. Check out the official announcement below:
One of the known new items coming to the popular battle royale title is the grappling gun simply known as theGrappler.Granting players the ability to escape a bad situation or close in on an enemy, this new weapon is likely to shake up the meta a bit. At the very least, like the Rift-to-Go, this item is adding some mobility into the game, resulting in fewer players just forting up in order to win.
For those simply waiting for this v5.40 update to go live, here’s therecent developer updatedetailing a few of the other forthcoming changes such as storm destruction, rarity changes, stack increases, and the revolver being vaulted. Despite the delay, players will still soon see what these changes are all about and how it shakes up the battle royale title.
