The newest trailer forGenshin Impactshows off gameplay for the newest four-star character arriving in Version 3.1, Candace. Candace was first revealed during the game’s recent Version 3.1 Special Program, showcasing everything being added to the game in the coming update. The newest patch will add a trio of new characters alongside theintroduction of Sumeru’s desert region, coupled with new bosses, events, and story quests. Now, with less than 48 hours until the update goes live, HoYoVerse has revealed the gameplay for one of the characters arriving in 3.1’s first half.

The newest ofGenshin Impact’s “Character Demo” series, titled “Candace: Shield of Sworn Protection,” introduces players to the defender from the desert. Alongside a brief teasing of her character, the trailer shows off Candace’s kit, centered heavily around her shield. Her Elemental Skill lets her block incoming damage from enemies before dealing Hydro damage to enemies around her. Candace’s Elemental Burst similarly deals area-of-effect Hydro damage, but also imbues the player’s Normal Attacks with Hydro for a short duration.

Candace was one ofthree characters revealed to be joiningGenshin Impactduring the game’s Version 3.1 update. Candace will be available to players during the first half of the update alongside new five-star character Cyno and a re-run of popular Anemo character Venti. The second half of Version 3.1 will feature another new addition to the roster in Nilou available alongside a re-run of Albedo. Candace is also expected to play a prominent role in the new story quests being added in Version 3.1, with the trailer hinting that Candace is able to see into the future.

The addition of Candace toGenshin Impactis just a part of what is slated to be a jam-packed update to the popular RPG. Alongside the new Sumeru-focused content,Genshin Impact’s Version 3.1 will also see players returning to Mondstadt with one of the patch’s highlight events taking place in the game’s first region. The “Of Ballads and Brews” event will feature a variety of mini-games, including shop management and combat challenges. The Mondstadt portion of the 3.1 trailer alsoteased upcoming character Mika, a member of the Knights of Favonius' Reconnaissance Company.

With plenty of new content and festivities planned forGenshin Impact’s second anniversary, HoYoVerse has set itself up for a busy start to the game’s third year. The Version 3.1 trailer revealed thenew “Genius Invokation TCG” card gamecoming toGenshin Impactin a future update. HoyoVerse also recently revealed two characters set to join the game during Version 3.2 in the Dendro Archon, Nahida, and the Sumeru Akademiya student, Layla. Between new gameplay elements and an anime from Ufotable on the way,Genshin Impactlooks to have plenty in store for Year 3.
