The upcoming newStranger ThingsDungeons & Dragonsgame is aiming to appeal to both franchises' fans, and it turns out a physical visit to the TV series' set gave quite a lot of material to the game designer.Welcome to the Hellfire Clubis aimed at letting players finish theD&Dgame that fan-favorite character Eddie began in season 4, so, naturally, there are a lot of influences from the TV show in the game.

In an exclusive interview withScreenRant, game designer Justice Arman stated he had the pleasure of visiting theStranger Thingsset and shared that the trip was enlightening for the development of the game. Per Arman,“Kara Kenna, the creative lead on this set, [and I] actually got to go down to the set in Atlanta and see it, and we took all of that inspiration back with us and used it in these adventures.“Arman also discussed meeting Eddie’s costume designer and how it influenced the game.

A Trip To The Stranger Things Set Inspired Map Adventures

A Replication Of The Upside Down

According to Arman,Welcome to the Hellfire Clubwill featurefull-size maps as part of the game. The maps can be used in gameplay for various adventures. For example, similar to characters in the show that explore the mysterious Upside Down, players can flip one of the maps and have an"anti-dungeon"going on. This can let them experience multiple layers of dungeons in the game, better creating an actual sense of exploration.

Additionally, the game will feature at least onenew version of the popular Demogorgoncreature, one of the major antagonists of the show. What that creature looks like, the abilities it has, or how it will weave intoStranger Thingslore remains to be seen, but since it wasapproved by The Duffer Brothers themselves, it will likely be a significant addition to the popular franchise.

Eddie’s Costume Designer Provided Valuable Insight

Players Can Learn From The Dungeon Master Himself

With the game focused on Eddie’s unfinishedD&Dcampaign,Arman also got valuable insight into Eddie’s characterand how to integrate him into the game from his set visit. The costume designer mentioned bands like Metallica and Judas Priest that influenced Eddie’s costumes and hairstyle, andWelcome to the Hellfire Clubwill let players learn from Eddie himself. The game will include notes from Eddie that not only help outnewD&Dplayersbut also add more characterization.

D&Disn’t the easiest game to get into for newcomers, but with a popular IP likeStranger Things, it makes sense that this new tabletop game aims to appeal to both first-timers and hardcoreD&Dplayers. The final season ofStranger Thingsis being released in multiple parts, so hopefully,Welcome to the Hellfire Clubwill allow fans to stay busy in between releases.
