More than halfway through the fourth and final season ofThe Righteous Gemstones, viewers are still wondering how all the ages of the Gemstone family work out after episode 6 goes back in time.The Righteous Gemstonesseason 4, episode 6, is the fourth interlude of the series, which historically was released as the fifth episode in seasons 1 through 3. This “Interlude IV” revisits the year 2002 when Aimee-Leigh Gemstone andnew season 4 character Lorirecord an album together asLori struggles with her failed marriage to Cobb.
The Righteous Gemstonesseason 4, episode 6 also explores more of Jesse and Amber’s backstory, particularly whenAmber was pregnant with their firstborn son, Gideon. Actress Keely Marshall has portrayed Young Amber in two episodes ofThe Righteous Gemstones,whileactor J. Gaven Wilde has played Young Jesse in seven episodes. Because “Interlude IV” doesn’t explicitly state how old Jesse and Amber were when they had Gideon, it can be confusing trying to pinpoint those numbers with accuracy.
Jesse & Amber Should Be About 27 Years Old When Gideon Is Born In 2002
The Actor Who Plays Young Jesse Notably Doesn’t Look 27
Even though Young Jesse sure doesn’t look like it, his character should be around 27 years old when Gideon is born in 2002. Jesse and Amber are about the same age. Danny McBride, who plays Jesse most of the time, is 48 in real life, while Cassiday Freeman, who plays Amber, is currently 42.The age difference between the actors isn’t reflected in the seriessince their characters met while attending a Christian college.
To be fair, the actors' ages have always made thecharacters' ages in the Interludes inThe Righteous Gemstonesmore confusing, not that it makes their scenes any less good or funny. Both Marshall and Wilde are great at playing younger versions of their characters, which is what really matters. For the sake of comparison, Emma Shannon, who plays Young Judy, is 18 in reality but her character should be more like 27 years old based on the age of Edi Patterson, who plays Judy (and is actually older than her older brother, Jesse).

Wilde Is 21 & Marshall Is 28
Wilde is much younger than Jesse should be in 2002 but Marshall is actually right about the age that Amber would have been at that time when having Gideon. Surprisingly, there is an eight-year age gap between Wilde, who was born in 2004, and Marshall, who was born in 1996. Amber obviously looks her age but it’s tough to believe that the 21-year-old Wilde is supposed to be portraying Jesse at the age of 27 on the brink of adulthood. Fortunately, it doesn’t distract too much from the story or quality ofThe Righteous Gemstonesseason 4, episode 6.
