There are currently 22 different GO Rocket Grunt teams inPokémon GO, but none are more difficult to beat than the Ke Ke Ke Ke team. Each of the various teams focuses on one type of Pokémon, with the Ke Ke Ke Ke teambased around Ghost-type Pokémon. This makes them trickier to defeat than others due to their lack of weaknesses. Due to this, you need to select the right team with the best counters if you want to beat them.
Defeating the Grunt teams, including Ke Ke Ke Ke, is vital if you want to tackle the GO Rocket Leaders and theGO Rocket Boss Giovanniin May 2025. You need todefeat six grunts to complete a Rocket Radarand have the chance to face a leader then. All the grunts can be found either inPokeStops or in GO Rocket Balloons, but it is completely random each time you find one, which team you will face. However, before you start the battle, you will know which one you are facing thanks to what they say upon finding them.

Ke Ke Ke Ke Grunt Team & Counters In Pokémon GO (May 2025)
An Unchanged Team For May
Team GO Rocket Grunts greatly differ from the Team GOLeaders inPokémon GOsuch as Cliff. They each have three possible Pokémon for each of their three slots in a battle, for nine different potential opponents. However, the battle is made easier by the fact that all the Pokémon are at least partially Ghost-types. This means that all but one of the Ke Ke Ke Ke team is weak toboth Ghost- and Dark-type attacks.
All the Pokémon Ke Ke Ke Ke uses are Shadow Pokémon, making them more difficult to defeat than the regular variants.

They will always start the battle with one out ofGastly,GolettorDuskill. Ke Ke Ke Ke’s second wave of Pokémon is more substantial, with them either selectingSableye, Haunter, or a second Golett. The difficulty will further increase for their final choices, which come fromGengar, Alolan Marowak or Froslass. This means that at least for the start ofMay 2025, Ke Ke Ke Ke’s Pokémon line-upremains unchanged.

Due to the common weaknesses, your team should be based around Dark-type Pokémonand feature at least two of them. Two of the best to use areDarkrai and Absol. Both are great attackers and can make quick work of the Ke Ke Ke Ke’s Pokémon. It is a better option to use Dark-types rather than Ghost-types. Ghost-types are super-effective against themselves, making your own Pokémon vulnerable to attacks if you choose to use them.
Aside from Dark-types, you should also include a specific Pokémon to use in case Sableye is selected. It is only weak to Fairy-type attacks, so I have found usingXerneas or Togekissis vital in case it is picked.
Rewards For Beating Rocket Grunts In Pokémon GO
A Shadow Encounter And A Vital Component
The biggest reward for betting Ke Ke Ke Ke and the other Rocket Grunts in May 2025 is receivinga Mysterious Component, which goes towards your Rocket Radar. These are required to face the GO Rocket Leaders and, in turn, GO Rocket Boss Giovanni.
You will receive the same rewards for defeating each of the Rocket Grunts. The only difference is the Shadow Pokémon that you encounter straight after the battle.
On top of this, you will encounterthe first Shadow Pokémonthat Ke Ke Ke Ke has used in the battle. This will change for each battle, but it will be one out of Gastly, Duskull or Golett. Finally, you will receive500 Stardustto go towards powering up your current Pokémon.
Ke Ke Ke Ke is the strongest of the Team GO Rocket Grunts, but you’re able to trounce them by using Dark-type Pokémon inPokémon GO.
