With production having recently wrapped on its next chapter, Hunter Doohan is sharing whether he’ll be back forDaredevil: Born Againseason 2. Season 1 of the Disney+ series served as a continuation of the Netflix Marvel Cinematic Universe title, finding Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock coming out of retirement as a vigilante when Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk is elected Mayor of New York City.
Doohan starred in the show as Bastian Cooper, a troubled patient of Margarita Levieva’s Heather Glenn. It’s also revealed in episode 7 that Cooper is Muse, the masked serial killer making art with the blood of his victims around New York. TheDaredevil: Born Againseason 1 episodeended with Muse being fatally shot by Glenn after Daredevil narrowly saved her life.

Now, in an interview withIndieWireto discussWednesdayseason 2, Doohan was asked about his potentialDaredevil: Born Againseason 2 return. The MCU villain actor shared he “would love” to bring Muse back, recalling the fun of the part while also laughing at how it continued a certain character trend for him. See what Doohan said below:
I would love that. That character was so fun. I don’t know, one, why people see me as a serial killer so much, or two, why I seem to get shot in every single TV show I do. There are some sleuths out there, because some people did figure it out way early on. I was even scared to post about it or anything to just try not to spoil it. I love keeping secrets back. When I did ‘Your Honor,’ and I died at the end of season 1, I didn’t tell anybody. It was really fun to get to see all of my friends and family’s reactions. My mom called and was so mad at me.

What Doohan’s Response Means For Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

Given Muse was seemingly dead in his final season 1 appearance, it would make sense for Doohan to not be back forDaredevil: Born Againseason 2. The narrative focus for the next season is clearly meant to be Matt and his army taking Fisk down after declaring martial law on the city and outlawing vigilantism, which would leave less room for the season 1 villain to return.
The other key reason why Doohan’s absence seems confirmed is that his comments indicate he is open to returning as Muse, but has not actually done so. Filming onDaredevil: Born Againseason 2 wrapped in early July, and barring another major creative overhaul of the show in the way of season 1, it’s unlikely there’s enough further filming plans to work him in.

That being said, there are still ways Doohan could find himself popping back up for season 2. Marvel is notorious for ensuring its actors don’t give away their secrets, and a dead character returning would be a pretty big deal. Plus, with Matt still likely to be reeling from Musenearly killing Glenn inDaredevil: Born Againseason 1, he could have nightmares or hallucinatory visions of the villain.
Our Take On Muse’s Potential Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Return
As much as I enjoyed the character, part of me thinks it’s for the best ifMuse doesn’t returnforDaredevil: Born Againseason 2. The way it’s shaping up to be a citywide war between Fisk and the Anti-Vigilante Task Force and Matt, Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones and their allies feels a little too contrasting with a serial killer investigation.
However, I do hope they find a narrative way to bring Doohan’s Muse back to the MCU afterDaredevil: Born Againseason 2. So much of his backstory feels unexplored, and could be fascinating to see, but he was also one of the most horrifying villains ever seen in the MCU, and I’d love to see what a revived version of the character does.
