The titular character ofMoon Knightcould have been given a spotlight in the MCU once more thanks to a specific villain, but their death means the chance may be gone.Moon Knightis often considered one of thebetter-ranked MCU TV showsproduced by Marvel Studios, though there are some who think it lacks comic fidelity. Nonetheless, the character himself proved to be popular among fans, as did the further exploration of theMCU’s gods and their powers.
As far asupcoming Marvel TV showsare concerned, a continuation ofMoon Knightseems to be low on the list of priorities. 2025 will see the release of two other live-action shows in the franchise:IronheartandWonder Man. Two more animated projects -Eyes of WakandaandMarvel Zombies- will then complete Marvel’s TV calendar year. The latter of these is actually set to include Moon Knight, yet the live-action version of the character that many long to see again inupcoming Marvel moviescould have been teased by a 2025 MCU villain. Sadly, Marvel missed this opportunity.

Moon Knight Has Been Missing From The MCU For Some Time Now
The Character Has Been Absent For Three Years
As already alluded to, the main talking point concerning the MCU’s Moon Knight is that the character has been missing for a long time, at least in live-action. Since theending ofMoon Knightin 2022, the character has been almost completely absent from MCU stories, be it in the realm of TV or theatrical films.OnlyWhat If…?season 3 has featured Moon Knight in the last three years, forcing a popular character and even more popular actor into a state of limbodespite a promising debut TV season.
Many thought that the Marvel movies of the next few years could see Moon Knight return, but recent announcements seem to prove this is unlikely. The initialcast list forAvengers: Doomsdaydid not feature Oscar Isaac, meaning only future announcements provide the last glimpse of hope for an MCU return for the multiple personalities of Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley. Eventually, it will get to a point where general audiences may forget Moon Knight exists entirely. In 2025, however, Marvel had the opportunity to avoid this.

Daredevil: Born Again’s Muse Created The Easiest Way To Bring Moon Knight Back Into The Spotlight
Based On The Villain’s Comic Book Storylines
The opportunity in question came inDaredevil: Born Again. One of the supporting villains of the 2025 show was Muse, a character from Marvel Comics. In both the comics andDaredevil: Born Again,Muse is a serial killer who uses the blood, guts, and bodies of his victims to paint murals criticizing prominent figures of the Marvel universe.Daredevil: Born Again’s Museprimarily focused on figures central to the show, like Daredevil himself, Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, or Frank Castle/The Punisher.
In the comics, though, Muse naturally painted murals that depicted other prominent heroes and villains in the Marvel universe. One such mural was dedicated to Moon Knight, showing the hooded hero next to the words"I’m not crazy, I’m awake.“InDaredevil: Born Again,Marvel Studios could have made it so that Muse painted murals of other heroes as he does in the comics, with Moon Knight being one of them, thus refamiliarizing both the MCU’s citizens and viewers with the vigilante.

Muse painting a mural of Moon Knight would have been a neat way to remind audiences that he has become a prominent MCU hero…
If this had been the case,Daredevil: Born Againcould have brought Moon Knight back into the forefront of audiences' minds. Muse painting a mural of Moon Knight would have been a neat way to remind audiences that he has become a prominent MCU hero in the time betweenMoon Knightseason 1 andDaredevil: Born Again. Although not a full, complete return for the character, this would have been a way to give Moon Knight a spotlight once more in a way that organically fit with another MCU story.
Daredevil: Born Again’s Muse Story Makes A Moon Knight Reference Feel Impossible Despite The Comics
Muse Seems Unlikely For An MCU Return
Regardless of the possibility of a Moon Knight reference via Muse’s storyline, it seems the MCU has missed the opportunity to actually include one. The reason for this is the fate that befell Muse inDaredevil: Born Againepisode 7’s ending. In this episode, Muse targeted his therapist, Heather, who was also the girlfriend of Matt Murdock. Knowing Heather was in trouble, Matt rushed to save her, resulting in a fight between Daredevil and Muse. Matt almost gained the upper hand to subdue Muse, but not before Heather shot the serial killer several times, seemingly putting an end to his MCU future.
With Muse dead, it is highly unlikely that any more murals will be created in the MCU. Despite Muse’s artwork in the comics featuring the likes of Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Spider-Man, to name a few, it seems as though the MCU’s version limited his work toDaredevil-centric characters for the purpose ofBorn Again’s story. While there is a possibility for unseen murals completed before Muse’s death to be shown inDaredevil: Born Againseason 2,the possibility of seeing Moon Knight once more in the format has dwindled.
One Daredevil: Born Again Muse Theory Means The Graffiti Concept Might Still Have One Way To Become Reality Depending On How The MCU Show Continues Its Story
Muse’s Work Could Live On
That being said, it is not entirely impossible that a Muse mural of Moon Knight appears in the MCU’s future. Of course, Muse’s death makes this way of giving Moon Knight a brief spotlight more unlikely, but not completely out of the realm of possibility. This is because of a theory that links toDaredevil: Born Againseason 2’s story which could allow Muse’s work to continue on in the MCU’s future.
The theory is fairly simple: Muse receives copycats. Copycat killers that take on the identities of villains are not uncommon in the Marvel universe. With Wilson Fisk outlawing vigilantes going intoDaredevil: Born Againseason 2, it would make sense for more murals to be created criticizing him and other people in the MCU. As a result, theMoon Knightmural reference could still come to fruition inDaredevil: Born Again, finally reviving the hero after three years on the sidelines.
