One of the newest additions to theMCUrecently commented on their franchise future, and it bodes well for theYoung Avengers. Marvel’s aim with the Multiverse Saga has been to slowly introduce the new generation of heroes. The studio has alreadyintroduced new groupslike the Thunderbolts and the Fantastic Four, but we can’t forget that they’ve already set up another exciting group of young heroes.
The Young Avengersare expected to debut before the end of the Multiverse Saga. From genius teenagers to the children of existing heroes, there are plenty of options for the team. One of the most likely candidates will be Joe Locke’s Billy Maximoff who was introduced inAgatha All Alonglast year. Technically the son of Scarlet Witch,Billy’s spirit took over another body after the destruction of the Westview Anomaly. Considering who Billy’s parents are and the legacy he would hold in the MCU, it’s clear that Marvel intends to keep the character around for a while.

The MCU Has Already Set Up Its Young Avengers In A Major Way
Kamala Khan Has Started Forming The Team
While the Young Avengers have yet to make their official MCU debut, it’s confirmed in-universe that their formation is in the works.Kamala Khan approached Kate Bishop to join her teamat the end ofThe Marvels, with her speech to Kate mimicking how Nick Fury recruited the original Avengers. Although Kamala and Kate’s team doesn’t have a name yet, we can safely assume that they’ll make up the Young Avengers.
Considering how many young heroes have been introduced in the recent MCU, Kamala has a large roster of heroes that she can choose from. Cassie Lang, Riri Williams, and America Chavez are just some of the names that come to mind, and Billy can now be added to that list. At the end ofAgatha All Along, he agreed to team up with Agatha on his hunt for more answers. It seems likeMarvel is purposely keeping his future plans vagueso that they can use him when necessary, and surely he’ll come across the Young Avengers at some point.

Joe Locke’s Most Recent Comments About Billy Maximoff Make The Prospect Of Him Appearing In The MCU’s Young Avengers Way More Likely
Locke Is Committed To The MCU
When signing onto the MCU, most actors hope they can get some sort of multi-year contract that would cement their place in the franchise. In a recent interview withThe Playlist, Locke was asked about the details of his Marvel contract and what Kevin’s Feige future plans for Wiccan are.Locke responded by hinting at a lengthy MCU commitment, which makes the prospect of him appearing in the Young Avengers way more likely. Read his full quote below:
“Kevin Feige doesn’t ring you up, but when I signed my contract, I signed for my whole life. So you sort of wait for them. You’re in limbo to them, which is, there are worse things to be in limbo for.”

Like most MCU actors, the exactdetails of Locke’s contractseem largely under wraps. However, the fact that he’s prepared to stay in the franchise for a while bodes well for Wiccan’s MCU future. The prospect of Locke being in the franchise for many years to come seems intentional on Marvel’s part, and the most logical place for Wiccan to appear would be in the Young Avengers. It’d be a long-term storyline that would give him a stable team to come back to, as well as other heroes to naturally work with.
Why Billy Maximoff Would Be Perfect For The MCU’s Young Avengers
He Can Carry On His Parents’ Avengers Legacy
An incredibly interesting young hero, we’ve witnessed every moment of Billy’s life. We’ve seen everything from his birth inWandaVisionto his new lease on life inAgatha All Along, and we know thatBilly’s whole lifehas revolved around his powers. With his parents being Wanda and Vision, he has deep ties to the first generation of Avengers, andit’d be poetic for him to carry on his parents’ legacywhile acting under his own superhero identity.
Billy also has some pressing motives that he wants to fight for, and the stakes are high. He wants to track down his brother Tommy, and he wants to avenge his mother who died with a villainous reputation. Joining the Young Avengers would give him a place to hone his powers, serving as a safe place for him to contemplate his larger plans. There’s a promising new generation ofMCUheroes, and Locke’s participation in the Young Avengers seems more likely than ever.
