With the release of Title Update 2 forMonster Hunter Wilds, there have been some hidden changes that Capcom didn’t directly mention. While the free update included two new monsters, Lagiacrus and Seregios, the mechanics surrounding their craftable gear are noticeably different compared to other creatures. This adjustment reflects systems from previousMonster Huntergames, which could satisfy long-time veterans, but also be hard for new players to understand.
AlthoughMonster Hunter Wildshas been received negativelyby PC players due to a number of performance issues,Title Update 2’s content addresses many fan concerns. Arch Tempered Uth Duna increases the difficulty of quests, while weapon adjustments increase the strength of some hunters' favorite tools. Feedback on the game has started to increase positively, at least regarding the quality-of-life features added since release.

1% Monster Part Drops Are Back In Title Update 2
Some Rare Gear Pieces Are Hidden Behind Traditional Drop Rates
One of the most exciting features to make a return in Title Update 2 is the appearance of extremely rare item drops on certain monsters.Lagiacrus and Seregios are two of the only monsters with items that drop 1% of the timeas quest rewards. This is a drastic departure from other monsters inWilds, who tend to have their rarest parts appear more commonly throughout different hunts.
Some Investigation quests have a guaranteed chance to drop certain items from a monster, but these appear randomly in different areas of theWildsmap. You have to save these Investigations if you can, to preserve a 100% chance of getting some of the game’s rarest parts.

There are only two parts with a 1% drop rate from both monsters, listed below:
Both of these items are required in several gear recipes, including both weapons and armor crafted from Lagiacrus and Seregios quest rewards. For example, to build an entire set of Lagiacrus armor, you need at least 3 Sapphires from various quests. For those looking to gain unique skill effects from complete armor sets or weapons tied to these monsters, theymay have to hunt these monsters dozens of times for the partsthey need.

Thankfully, players can increase the chances of finding these parts to 2% if they get them from a monster carve, but even that rate is still 5-8% lower than some of the rarest parts from other monsters. Along with otheranticipated TU2 features inMonster Hunter Wilds, the reappearance of extremely rare drops marks a return to tradition in the game.
Monster Hunter Veterans Will Love A Return To A Classic Grind
Low Drop Rates Are A Return To Form
In my opinion, it was far too easy to get some monster parts from other quests inWilds.Long-time veterans of past games in the series will remember the feeling of grinding one monster quest for hourswith their friends just for a chance to get one part needed to complete a new set. This new drop rate for Lagiacrus and Seregios emulates that anticipation, especially since simply cutting off their tails doesn’t give you a higher drop rate for their ultra-rare items.
It may take players 20 or more quests on the same monster to get one of the 1% parts, with the need to then repeat the mission again to get the same item a couple more times.Repeated quests give players more time to appreciate monstersas they learn their patterns to make quests far easier. More attempts against a monster will lead to hunters adapting to how it attacks over time.

One of myfavorite parts of anyMonster Hunteris the cool clashes, dodges, or efficient staggering attacks you’re able to only do once you truly understand how a monster works. With low drop rates on items, veteran players can become efficient machines against particular monsters, greatly improving how fast they can defeat them in coordinated groups or solo hunts.
New Players Might Feel That Getting New Armor Sets Is Too Tedious
Not Everyone Will Want To Spend Time On Repeat Hunts
While this traditional drop system could appeal to long-timeMonster Hunterfans, those who started withWildsmight feel confused.New players may not want items to be locked behind a 1% drop rate, especially if they want to get their hands on specific sets fast. Anyone looking for full Lagiacrus or Seregios armor or a Rarity 7-8 weapon from their trees will have to spend an unfamiliar amount of time getting the parts they need.
This can be discouraging for players who want to get the unique skills tied to Seregios or Lagiacrusgear. No other monster in the game provides the same abilities as these two, so they can create unique builds if players farm for all the parts they need.

One of the best Thunder elemental builds you can make inMH Wildsright now is tied to making at least four pieces of the Lagaiacrus armor set. To do this, you need multiple Lagiacrus Sapphires, which each only have a 1-2% drop rate during quests surrounding that monster.
Personally, I would like Capcom to keep adding more monsters with far rarer drops, or even change the drop rates forexisting creatures like Arkveldor Gore Magala. That being said, I recognize how newer players might not want to spend too many hours hunting for one or two parts inMonster Hunter Wilds, so maybe it is for the best that it remains a feature exclusive to only a few monsters.
