I am so happy to see that this underratedromantasybook made it onto Amazon’s Best Books of 2025 list alongside of other bigger series additions.BookTok’s obsession with romantasyhas continued to thrive in 2025, withnew releases and continued series keeping the romantasy genre at the forefront of BookTok’s discussions through theories, analysis, and reenactments.Even though 2025 is not coming to an end anytime soon, some of these new releases have truly stood out already, garnering attention from various other platforms.

A lot of thesenew romantasy booksgetting this attention are continuations to BookTok’s most anticipated series, such asOnyx Storm,or exciting new series whose beginnings in the romantasy space are strong, such asSilver Elite. However, a few other new romantasy titles have, sadly, fallen by the waysidedespite their great plotlines and character arcs. That is why, when I saw Amazon’s Best Books of 2025 list, I was happy to see one stand-out romantasy book mentioned among the expected titles:Immortalby Sue Lynn Tan.

I’m Pleasantly Surprised Sue Lynn Tan’s Immortal Is On Amazon’s Best Romantasy Round-Up

Immortal Was Published In January 2025

I am both surprised and happy to see thatImmortalmade it onto Amazon’s romantasy list, especially considering the other additions to it.Amazon added the Romantasy category to their annual book roundup for 2025, whichAmazon’s Best Books Listhas never properly featured with its own list before, usually relegating them to the romance or fantasy categories. Among the list’s six entries, I was not surprised to find larger franchise titles that had been, as mentioned, heavily celebrated and discussed on BookTok and other platforms.

The list includedOnyx Storm, which continues to be talked about due to its shocking ending, alongside ofSilver Elite, The Knight and the Moth, andShield of Sparrows, all of which have captivated BookTok for various reasons. That being said, seeing Tan’s standalone romantasy bookImmortalwas a great surprise, as unlike the other additions, it is not a proper extension of a larger work or has had the same push in book spaces. Even so, the book truly earned its spot, its many great attributes allowing it to match the other strong contenders on Amazon’s list so far.

Sue Lynn Tan’s Immortal Is Underrated But Worth A Read

Tan’s Worldbuilding And Love Story Make It A Must-Read

The lush world, characters, and themes withinImmortaltruly make this standalone novel a great addition to any romantasy TBR. According toGoodreads, the story chronicles the adventures of Liyen, the heir of Tianxia who is meant to renew her pledge to the gods of their world upon taking the throne. After she is poisoned, however, her grandfather is forced to steal a healing lotus from the gods, resulting in the ruthless God of War to be sent after Liyen as punishment for his crimes.

Immortalis a standalone story set in the world of Tan’sDaughter of the Moon Goddessseries.

However, Liyen and the God of War develop an alliance once she arrives in the Immortal Realm, determined to save her people once and for alleven as their attraction grows. Tan’s writing allows her to weave this rich storyline with ease, showcasing a lyrically rich romantasy world. The plotline is full of unexpected twists with the romance between Liyen and the God of War unfolding in wonderfully unexpected ways as the two fall in love. All of these aspects earnedImmortal’s spot on Amazon’s list, though I do wish it was not the only underrated book on there.

I Wish More Lesser-Known Romantasy Books Were Spotlighted In Amazon’s Best Of 2025

Amazon Could Use The List To Introduce Readers To Lesser-Discussed Books

While every romantasy book on Amazon’s 2025 list are great choices, I do wish that more lesser-known books in the genre were featured as it could help them garner a larger audience. More often than not, amazing butunderrated romantasy booksdo not really end up on lists like this, as so much attention is paid to books on bestseller lists or that have large followings on platforms like BookTok.Though havingImmortalhelps with this, it is not the only one that could benefit from this kind of exposurefrom other sources.

As a result, the romantasy genre can continue to grow and evolve, a process that is likely to go on as 2025 continues.

If lists like Amazon’s Best Books of 2025 mentioned books like these, it would likely give them the attention they deserve as BookTok has so many stories that do not get the spotlight.Readers who are unaware of them can then find and discuss them, creating new conversations and showcasing just how versatile the genre can be, encouraging new writers to add their stories. As a result, theromantasygenre can continue to grow and evolve, a process that is likely to go on as 2025 continues.
