Sullivan’s Crossinghas everything you’re looking for in a coastal drama, and if you like the series, there’s a sleeper hit from ABC’s 2007 lineup that’s well worth the watch. Throughout the 2000s, ABC featured a ton of shows that most viewers wouldn’t remember in today’s saturated market. While there were dramas that stood out at the time, they’ve become distant memories.
While many of the dramas airing in the mid-to-late 2000s weren’t based in reality, those that were steeped in realism were sometimes overlooked for flashy, futuristic plot devices. Instead of focusing on interpersonal drama, high-concepts were huge. As someone who’s always enjoyed an hour-long drama, watchingSullivan’s Crossinghas reminded meof ashow that didn’t get its fair share of attention.

It Brings The Main Character Back To Their Small Home Town
October Road, a two-season series that ran on ABC in 2007 and 2008, isone of the most criminally underrated dramas the network’s had in the last two decades. Bringing a fish out of water back to his hometown after a decade,October Roadfocuses on Nick Garrett (Bryan Greenberg), a writer living, working, and struggling in New York City.
Nick returns to his hometown for the first time in a decade after leaving his life behind for what was supposed to be a weeks-long backpacking trip. Coming back tohis high school girlfriend Hannah Daniels (Laura Prepon)and his former best friend Eddie Latekka (Geoff Stults), as well as his widower father (Tom Berenger),Nick’s life is quickly turned upside down.

Hoping to reignite his creative spark after struggling with writers’ block,Nick learns Hannah’s life has changed in some shocking waysthat leave him wondering if he should stick around. While he works to fit back into his old life, Nick has to own up to the fact that his success came at the pain of those he grew up caring for.
The Series Featured Familiar Faces While Airing
AlthoughOctober Roadonly has two seasons, as well as a truncated series finale that the creative team behind the show made when they found out they weren’t getting another season, it’s well worth the watch. Not only is the plot interesting and complex enough to keep viewers guessing, the cast of characters were all intriguing in their own unique ways.
With Prepon and Greenberg as the romantic leads, the rest of the town’s residents had unique storiesthat brought a lived-in feel to the show, even in its earliest episodes. Much likeSullivan’s Crossings’quirky townspeople who create a more vibrant feeling around Timberlake,October Road’scast were saddled with creative plots and interesting decisions, making the show a fun watch.
