It has been close to five years since the lastAliengame,Alien: Isolation, was released, and although the game was received with somewhat mixed reviews, it won quite a few awards and many fans have been eagerly waiting for a sequel. Over the last year there have been varioushints at a new Alien game, presumably titledAlien: Blackout, and now a mysterious tweet by the officialAlienTwitter account has fans of the series wondering again if a sequel is indeed in the works.

Yesterday, AlienAnthology tweeted a short snippet that shows the protagonist ofAlien: Isolation, and the daughter of Ellen Ripley from the Alien film series, Amanda Ripley - or at least, her space suit. The tweet’s caption reads “Daughter. Rebel. Hero. Her story deserves to be told…” and the video ends off with “Who is Amanda Ripley?” and the words “Coming soon.”

The tweet is rather vague, but the phrase “Her story deserves to be told” might be indicative of the highly anticipated sequel. There are no further hints on what is “coming soon”<" but fans are hoping that it may refer a more detailedAlien: Blackoutannouncement, or even some footage from the game that is suggested by “read, play, watch” in the video. Previous leaks aboutAlien: Blackoutsuggested that it might be afirst-person shooter game, which is a major departure fromAlien: Isolation, which favored stealth as players tried to avoid gruesome deaths by the terrifying Xenomorph.

While many fansexpected an announcementfor the game at last year’s Game Awards, they were left disappointed as there was unfortunately no mention of the game. Some fans have pointed out that in May 2019, theAlienseries will also be celebrating its 40th anniversary, which may not be the release date forAlien: Blackout, but hopefully a time when we will receive more details about the game and its apparent hero, Amanda Ripley.
