As MCU TV shows have been a crucial component of The Multiverse Saga, only a handful of projects have been able to score season renewals, while others have served as limited series. While the Phase 4 series left the door open for both Renner’s Clint Barton and Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop to continue, only the latter has been seen sinceHawkeye’s ending, appearing inThe Marvels' mid-credits scene.
In a new interview withEmpire, Renner, who had previously spoken about the MCU pay dispute that was preventing him from agreeing to doHawkeyeseason 2, dropped a new update about the show potentially continuing. Feeling confident in the way his health has bounced back since his December 2023 snowplow accident, the star feels"my body’s getting ready for something" like an MCU return. Renner stated the following:
I’m always happy to be in that world, man. I love all those guys, I love the character. I’m sure we’ll end up doing Season 2, and do other things. And I’m happy to do it. My body’s getting ready for something like that. I don’t know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in the tights. [I can still do Hawkeye’s signature jump and shoot] absolutely. No problem. That’s where I’m at. I’m more than 150 per cent of what I was prior to the incident.
Having health and wellness be such a central part of my life, that’s what’s gotten me back. And even as I age, I just feel stronger than I’ve been. I have some issues, and tendon issues and certain limitations of flexibility and mobility, but I spent a lot of time on getting better and stronger, and I wouldn’t if I didn’t get crushed.

Even if it has to be after Phase 6, given how Marvel Studios is focusing on finishing The Multiverse Saga before softly rebootingthe entire franchise withAvengers: Secret Wars, the wait could be worth it.
If the show does end up getting renewed,Hawkeyeseason 2 could potentially explore aspects like Clint’s twisted brother from the comics, or even get involved with more street-level heroes, especially now that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is back in the fold andBorn Againseason 2 will bringKrysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones back. But until season 2 happens, it will be interesting to see if the rumors prove true of Renner’s return as Barton forAvengers: Doomsdayor its 2027 sequel.
