Even for those who already have it or are willing to shell out for a physical copy,Hexmight not exactly satisfy the assassin fantasy, focusing on strategy more than the thrill of the kill.
On the other hand, there’sSuit for Hire, a new game that seems to borrow as much fromJohn Wickas it does from the classicMax Payneseries. In a way, it’s the perfect pairing, as both franchises owe their action stylings to Hong Kong’s gun fu films. The best news:Suit for Hireretails for $14.99, less than a fifth of what some new games are charging in 2025.

Suit for Hire’s title might already make itsJohn Wickappeal obvious, as it follows in the franchise’s iconography of well-dressed assassins. Unlike the similarly stylishAgent 47 of theHitmangames,Suit for Hire’s protagonist also tends toward the blood-soaked methodology that Mr. Wick is known for. Instead of poisoning dishes,you’ll be building up big, stylish combosas synths pulse and guitars shred.
Suit for Hirecan be played in both top-down and third-person modes, with the former veering closer toHotline Miamiand the latter bringing theMax Paynesensibilities to the table. ConsideringJohn Wick Chapter 4’s memorable top-down scene, both perspectives can actually tap into that fantasy, so the choice will largely depend on whether you want a clean overview of the scene or more visceral action.
At $14.99, Suit For Hire Is Worth A Try

Suit for Hirewas available in early accessfor several years before its recent 1.0 release, but unlike a lot of early access games, it didn’t spike the price upon its official debut. At $14.99, you could get your money’s worth just by fiddling around for a few hours. You might get sucked into more, however. With a 91% “Very Positive” score onSteam, it would appear that most players have found it fairly compelling.
As AAA releases continue to grow in scale, I’m always happy to see smaller titles that keep the focus on the action. Without bloated RPG mechanics or anoversized open worldto worry about, you’re free to hone in on the gunplay and strategy inSuit for Hire. It’s always fun to watch the ballet of bullets in aJohn Wickfilm, and mastering that dance yourself inSuit for Hirecan be every bit as exciting.
