Our Take On Grantchester’s Final Season
Grantchester Is One Of The Best British Period Dramas
WhileGrantchestermay have started as a case-of-the-week British period crime drama, it has since become so much more. Yes, Geordie and the three vicars solve plenty of murders, but the show uses those investigations, as well as the history and politics of post-war England, to explore Geordie and his friends’ traumas, flaws, virtues, and relationships with one another.

Grantchesteris, above all, a show about friendship, love, and acceptance. The murder cases are secondary but never dull, and the gorgeous Cambridgeshire setting, including the lovely streets of Cambridge and its countryside surroundings, makes it easy to get swept up in Geordie Keating’s world.
Grantchesteris, above all, a show about friendship, love, and acceptance.
Though I’m sad thatGrantchesteris coming to an end, I’m glad they’ll be able to end this iconic series with one last, heartwarming season, exploring both the best and worst that humanity has to offer. Rishi Nair’s Alphy Kottaram deserves more time on screen, too, and I’m excited to see where his story will lead.Grantchesterwill be sorely missed; it truly is one of a kind.
