Marvel Comicshas just revealed that Mary Jane Watson is the Venom symbiote’s newest host. Since Venom was forced to sever its bond with Eddie and Dylan Brock after nearly dying, the alien hero has since returned with a new golden form and few clues as to the new host’s identity. Now, Mary Jane is officially stepping up as the All-New Venom, which opens up an entirely new world of powers beyond what she has ever been capable of before. As the heroine learns how to harness her new abilities,these are the ten best powers Mary Jane’s Venom possesses.
10Wrist Cannons

Asthe All-New Venom, Mary Jane Watson has learned how to harness Venom’s full transformative potential. Marvel’s symbiotes are versatile creatures that can transform their amorphous bodies into miraculous new and dangerous forms. When Mary Jane and Venom once again face the forces of AIM,the duo grow a shining pair of golden cannons strapped to their wrist.While under a barrage of attacks, Mary Jane and Venom unleash their own explosive retaliation.
These alien cannons are capable of shooting cannonball-sized projectiles made from Venom’s webbing. When they are fired, the balls are coated in a “hard candy shell” that breaks upon impact. Once a victim is hit,the webbing explodes and encompasses the entirety of the target.Like Venom’s other webbing, the cannonballs cannot be stopped by most weapons, including the high-tech weaponry that AIM often employs. However, a quick sonic blast is all it takes to slow this attack down.

This power is a bit silly, but it has been an invaluable trait since its introduction. Twice now, Mary Jane Watson has been shot in the head but lived to tell the tale. The Venom symbiote has always had a seemingly bottomless and invulnerable stomach, and this odd ability also extends to its hosts. Once a symbiote has fully encompassed its host, it’s hard to tell where the symbiote ends and the host begins. Regardless of the answer, the Venom symbiote has proven thatalmost anything it shoves down its own throat won’t hurt the host.InAll-New Venom #2,Mary Jane and Venom are forced to prove this power on the public stage.
After the heroic pair are attacked by a band of petty, costumed criminals, including one that looks likethe NHL mascot Gritty, another villain unleashes a barrage of explosives at Venom and the surrounding populace. With only moments to react,Mary Jane and Venom simply eat the projectile bombs,resulting in a horrible case of indigestion. But even with multiple explosives inside Mary Jane and Venom’s combined body, the heroic host remained unscathed.
6Genetic Memories

Whenever a symbiote bonds with a host, the alien creaturecopies and absorbs large portions of the host’s mind and memories into its own.With each subsequent bonding, a symbiote and its new hosts can recall the memories, expertise, and some abilities of past bonds. InVenom: First Host #2,Venom and Eddie Brock meet Tel-Kar, Venom’s first host. Even after centuries apart, and with Venom’s memories locked to it, the symbiote still recalls portions of its time with Tel-Kar and the combat expertise it gained.
Today, Mary Jane employed the same tactic against a band of lowly thugs. After the criminals release numerous bombs in a populated area,Mary Jane asks Venomto search through its “borrowed” memories from previous hosts to see if anyone was smart enough to know how to overcome the threat. Within moments,MJ calls forth Peter Parker’s scientific geniusto help break down the explosive’s chemical components before she decides to consume the bombs entirely.

While few Venom hosts have thought to call on this power, it is still a wildly useful one. If Miles Morales’s bio-electrical powers are anything to compare with,Venom and Mary Jane could have the power to unleash a new arsenal of devastating attacks. Whether it be Spider-Man’s “Venom Blast” or “Venom Beam,” these powers aren’t outside Venom’s reach nor its newest host. Combined with Mary Jane’s current lucky powers, Venom’s electricity-manipulation abilities could easily harness what rogue energies may be released.
4Camouflage

Despite the Venom symbiote’s propensity for wearing black, it has the power to reform, recolor, and conceal itself from the threat of a wandering eye. Traditionally,Eddie Brock has used this power to infiltrate and blend into his surroundingsby donning police uniforms or by quickly changing his clothing. However, by taking this a step further, Venom can also mimic its local environment, effectively turning itself invisible to its enemies.
While this ability may not be offensive in nature, it is certainly one of Mary Jane and Venom’s best powers.Following the King in BlackandVenom Warevents, the world is heavily distrusting of symbiotes, and Mary Jane needs to keep a low profile. As a professional actor, Mary Jane hasthe nerves and the camouflaging powers to sell any role she needsand deliver her new brand of black and golden justice.

With or without the Symbiote Hive, Venom’s mind is a complex web forged from the memories and experiences of its many hosts. While Venom may move on, artifacts from old hosts’ minds remain in the alien creature,culminating in a cacophony of thoughts that most psychics struggle to penetrate.When faced withthe X-Men’s Jean Grey, even the godly mutant’s power could not break through to Eddie Brock or Venom without the symbiote’s permission.
While it isn’t completely clear how powerful this ability can be, it is certainly one that the Venom symbiote and its new host possess. Eddie Brock may not have had the clarity to harness this power without Venom’s aid, but Mary Jane has already shown a studious interest in her new abilities. The pair is facing enemies of the highest intellectual caliber,including MODOK’s telepathic and mind-controlling powers.Mary Jane may need to rely on the symbiote’s telepathic immunity to defeat her massively cranial enemy.
2Digital Immersion

Admittedly, there may be a reason Marvel has never called upon this power after its original debut, but that said, it is perfect for Mary Jane’s current needs. InVenom: Carnage Unleashed #4,Venom and its horrifying offspring, Carnage, wage another gruesome war with no clear end in sight. While fighting,the father-son duo physically entered the Internetand could travel from one device to another. While this power has often been left forgotten, Mary Jane may need it.
Since bonding with Venom, Mary Jane hasn’t been able to use her Jackpot Bracelet. While the All-New Venom has opened a new war with AIM, Paul has struggled to integrate the bracelet with Venom’s biology. However, if Venom used this seemingly ridiculous ability, it could easilyinfiltrate the Jackpot Bracelet and may even be able to control its randomized effects.If not, this ability will still come in handy as Mary Jane and Venom continue to face AIM.
1Extreme Condition Adaptation
