Starfighter Is Gathering An All-Star Cast

Starfighteris definitely an unusual project, depending on star casting in a very different way to most Lucasfilm projects. To be fair, this does make sense; the success ofOpenheimerandSinnershas led to some commentators suggestingwe’re moving into a post-franchise era, and Lucasfilm would be wise to focus on star talent in such an environment.

Smith has shown his sheer range on bothDoctor WhoandHouse of the Dragon, andthere can be no doubt his performances alongside Mia Goth will be fantastic. She’s known for her fantastic performances of complex, twisted and sinister villains, and Smith can easily match her in darkness and sophistication.

Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy recently confirmed thatStarfighterwill begin production in the U.K. in September. That means we’d assumed there would be casting announcements this month, in the run-up to filming. Nobody had expected such a celebrated name as Matt Smith, though; this particularStar Warsmovie keeps getting better and better.
