The next installment in the belovedMeet the Parentsfranchise gets a new title, and a new cast member joins the original chaotic family. TheMeet the Parentsfranchise kicked off in 2000 and became a cultural phenomenon, spawning two sequels. The comedies followedBen Stiller’s Gaylord “Greg” Fockerand his conflict with his new father-in-law, played by Robert De Niro.
Back in March, it was confirmed thatthe franchise would be coming back with a new film, this time focusing on Greg and Pam’s college-aged son, who gets engaged to a woman who appears to be the wrong match for him. This marks the first entry in the franchisesinceLittle Fockersin 2010.The film is set to release on Thanksgiving 2026.

In a new video, a short teaser reveals the fourth movie will be titledFocker In-Law. The clip doesn’t feature the actors, butit does confirm the star-studded cast, which includes returning stars Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Owen Wilson, Teri Polo, and Blythe Danner, with Ariana Grande joining the cast as Greg and Pam’s son’s fiancée. Beanie Feldstein will also star.
What This Means For The Meet The Parents Franchise
It’s Being Reimagined For A New Era
With all the main stars returning, andGrande joining the cast ofFocker-In-Law, it confirms thatthe franchise is leaning into its legacy while bringing in new energy. While De Niro and Stiller provide continuity, Grande could serve as the gateway for a younger audience unfamiliar with the earlier films.
Grande’s next movie isWicked: For Good, which follows up on her Oscar-nominated performance in 2024’sWicked.

The title also suggests the plot will center on Grande’s character marrying into the Focker family, leading to the signature in-law comedy hijinks. Its setup feels like a direct callbacktothe originalMeet the Parents, where Jack (De Niro) doubted Greg’s worthiness as a partner for his daughter.
It seems that now, decades later, Greg may find himself in Jack’s shoes, skeptical of his own son’s love interest and hilariously fumbling through awkward attempts to intervene.Grande’s character could also serve as a new comedic antagonist, disrupting the family dynamic and forcing both Greg and Jack to confront their flaws, or perhaps uniting them in hopes of breaking the young couple up.
Our Take On Focker-In-Law
It Could Be The Comeback This Franchise Needed
Over a decade sinceLittle Fockers, the franchise seemed finished, until now. The surprise reveal ofFocker-In-Lawfollows Hollywood’s trend of reviving past beloved franchises. However, this is the kind of bold move that could bring the beloved comedy franchise backinto the mainstream. Grande’s involvement not only expands the film’s reach but also reinvigorates a premise that depends on new relational chaos every time.
If the film balances nostalgia and reinvention,Focker-In-Lawcould reinvent the franchise for new generations, bridging the gap between past and new comedies. With Stiller, De Niro, and the rest of the original cast back in action, the potential for hilariously awkward family drama is sky-high.
