What This Means For Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

Earlier this year, it was revealed inEmpire Magazine(viaComicBook.com) thatCruise and McQuarrie rejected aDead Reckoningsouvenir popcorn bucket design that took the form of the Sevastopol submarine. The release was instead accompanied by a more classic bucket with The Entity’s red eye imprinted on the side. Cruise is said to have taken a more active role in the popcorn bucket design forThe Final Reckoning, meaning the more involved model above comes star-approved.

Souvenir popcorn buckets have become bigger deals over the last few years, with the items now more sought after as collectibles. Sometimes, these buckets can even aid in the marketing of a film, as the infamousDune: Part Twopopcorn bucket did last year. The Entity popcorn bucket forThe Final Reckoningseems unlikely to go as viral as the sandworm bucket did, butit does speak to just how important the red spherical housing for the AI threat will be in the upcoming installment as Ethan locates the Sevastopol.

Our Take On The Final Reckoning’s Popcorn Bucket

The Souvenir Could Take On Greater Significance

Though not confirmed, it’s possible thatThe Final Reckoningwill be the lastMission: Impossiblemovie. In the trailers, after all, there is a clear sense of finality regarding Ethan’s story as things come full circle. If it is indeed Ethan’s last adventure, the souvenir popcorn bucket will be even more special and sought after.

Cruise first played Hunt 29 years ago in 1996’sMission: Impossible.

The Entity is unique in the largerMission: Impossiblefranchise, as every previous installment has had a human villain as the overarching antagonist. As seen inDead Reckoning, the AI threat has essentially crippled the world’s intelligence services, and it will be exciting to see Ethan attempt to take it down once and for all. ThoughMission: Impossible – The Final Reckoningis sure to be a thrilling watch regardless, a souvenir Entity popcorn bucket could certainly add to the epicness of the movie theater experience.
