Warning: This episode contains spoilers forMobLandseason 1, episode 3.
A newMobLandclip teases a potentially major revelation. The new London-set Paramount+ drama, which broke a record as the streamer’s biggest global series premiere with 2.2 million global viewers, follows the mounting tensions between the Harrigan and Stevenson crime families. The show’s star-studded cast includes Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Paddy Considine, and Helen Mirren. One of the key plot points of the season so far has been thedeath of Tommy Stevenson(Felix Edwards), which was recently revealed to have been a murder committed by the hotheaded Eddie Harrigan (Anson Boon).
ScreenRantcan now share an exclusive clip from the upcomingMobLandseason 1, episode 4, “Rat Trap,” which premieres on Paramount+ on April 20. The clip shows Eddie’s grandmother Maeve Harrigan (Mirren) talking circles around him, trying to calm him down while he eats. At the end of the scene, when he asks “was it a mistake, what we did?” she responds"we’ve got everyone exactly where we want them,“implying that she may have been involved in Tommy’s murder, or at least its cover-up, in some way. What This Means For MobLand
Is Maeve Involved In Tommy’s Death?
This clip plays its hand very heavily in its implication that Maeve could be involved in Tommy’s murder. While she is an expert manipulator in many ways that could be unrelated, as shown by her management of Eddie’s mental state during their conversation, she certainly seems to be directly involved in this cover-up operation. This could very well be because she orchestrated the murder herself, which would seem to be what is being hinted at by the final pair of lines in the scene.
However, the conversation is couched in vague enough terms thatthey could be referring to some entirely different incidentthat will be revealed down the road. It seems highly likely that the character has many irons in the fire on top of managing the fallout of Tommy’s death. The 10-episode season is not even half over, so it seems highly likely that there are many more layers of Maeve that have yet to be explored, so her potential guilt is still very much up in the air.

Our Take On The MobLand Clip
Helen Mirren Is A Powerhouse As Maeve
One thing that this clip proves more or less conclusively is what an asset Helen Mirren is to theMobLandcast. In addition to likely helping the show break a Paramount+ viewership record thanks to already having helped draw viewers to the platform with her leading role in their similarly popularYellowstoneprequel1923, she shows off her acting chops in a major way in this scene by turning on a dime from a doting grandmother into a calculating manipulator. She helps give the character of Maeve many extra dimensionsthat make her potential guilt even more difficult to assess.
