Summary
The Mangekyo Sharingan is the evolved form of the Sharingan andone of the strongest known Kekkei Genkaiin the entireNarutoseries. First known to be wielded among the Uchiha by none other than Madara Uchiha and his brother, Izuna Uchiha, the Mangekyo Sharingan awakens when an Uchiha experiences severe trauma caused by the loss of a loved one.
Over the years, several users of this power have appeared in the story ofNarutoand demonstrated the fearsome abilities that this eye offers. Thebest Mangekyo Sharingan abilitiesare no joke and can decimate opponents in no time if the wielder knows what they’re doing.

Arguments can be made for the Byakugan and Rinnegan being more powerful than the kekkei genkai of the Uchiha, but the prominence of the Sharingan and its suite of abilities ensure that it stands out as an incredible dojutsu that is the coolest of the lot by far. An Uchiha with an awakened Sharingan who witnesses the death of a close friend or family member awakens theMangekyo Sharingan’s abilitiesand unleashes a world of pain on their opponents.
28Genjutsu
The Power To Cast A Heightened Illusion
While a very basic ability, the Mangekyo Sharingan also offers the ability to cast Genjutsu. Of course, given that the Mangekyo Sharingan is stronger than the regular Sharingan, the Genjutsu that one can cast using the Mangekyo Sharingan is much stronger than the regular one.
Fans have seen many powerful Mangekyo Sharingan wielders utilize the power of Genjutsu, and it is clear that they can use the skill on a much higher level. Sasuke has utilized this technique on many occasions, such as when he fought against Danzo, and of course, later down the line, when he fought against Kabuto as well. By the time of the conclusion of the Fourth Great Ninja War, Sasuke could even control the Tailed Beasts with his visual prowess. Undoubtedly, the regular Genjutsu the Mangekyo Sharingan is an underrated aspect of this power that deserves more attention, and rightly so.
27Object Manipulation Technique
An Ability Used By Shin Uchiha
The Object Manipulation Technique was used by Shin Uchiha, who appeared after the story ofNarutowrapped up. Shin Uchiha was created bynone other than Orochimaruand he made his appearance in the one-shot manga, Naruto Gaiden. Shin was a powerful user of the Sharingan and he had somehow managed to evolve this eye to attain the Mangekyo.
As with the vast majority of these eyes, Shin also had unique abilities up his sleeve. He could use the Object Manipulation Technique which allowed him to place a mark on any object that he could and then freely manipulate them telekinetically for as long as he wanted. He was seen leaving this mark on Sasuke’s sword and then stabbing Naruto with it. Later on, in the fight against Sakura, he was able to injure her severely using this object manipulation technique.
26Hinokagutsuchi
The Power to Manipulate the Kagutsuchi
Hinokagutsuchi is an ability that only appeared in theNarutoanime. Fans got to witness this power during the fight between the two brothers, Indra and Asura Otsutsuki. This ability was used by none other than Indra Otsutsuki through his Mangekyou Sharingan. As the name suggests, it allows him to manipulate the power of Kagutsuchi, which many fans are already aware of.
It is very similar in application to Sasuke Uchiha’s Amaterasu. How exactly it differs isn’t known, however, it can be assumed that this technique allows him to manipulate the shape and size of the flames of Amaterasu freely, making it a better version of the said technique. That said, it didn’t hold up well in combat against his brother, Asura Otsutsuki, and was put out rather quickly.
25Amaterasu
Inextinguishable Black Flames
The Amaterasu is one of the first few powers of the Mangekyo Sharingan that the fans witnessed in theNarutoseries. It was first used by Itachi Uchiha and this ability allowed him to create inextinguishable black flames to attack his enemies with.
The flames of Amaterasu are said to be so powerful that they burn as hot as the sun itself. What’s more, these flames can only be extinguished once the target is completely incinerated, which just goes to show its power.Sasuke Uchihais a user of this power as well.
24Blaze Release: Honoikazuchi
Uses the Black Flames of Amaterasu
Used by Sasuke Uchiha, Blaze Release: Honoikazuchi is an anime-onlyMangekyo Sharingan abilitythat he used in the fight against Naruto Uzumaki. By surrounding himself in the black flames of Amaterasu, Sasuke created massive spikes that skewer all those around him.
He can further make this technique stronger by pulling his enemies towards him using the Rinnegan’s Bansho Ten’in. Although Naruto survived its usage, this technique is certainly very overpowered.
23Yasaka Magatama
Creates Giant Beads of Chakra
Known to be one of the strongest abilities of the Mangekyo Sharingan, Yasaka Magatama can only be used by those who have access to the Susanoo. This ability allows the user to create giant beads of chakra and use them to attack their opponents from a distance.
According to Itachi Uchiha, this ability is one of the very best that the Susano’o offers from a distance. Its powers are great enough to cause colossal damage and, what’s more, it could even destroy a Chibaku Tensei when combined with Naruto’s Rasenshuriken and Killer Bee’s Tailed Beast Ball.
22Blaze Release: Kagutsuchi
The Power to Control the Black Flames of Amaterasu
Blaze Release: Kagutsuchi is a powerful Mangekyo Sharingan ability that is unique toSasuke Uchiha’s Mangekyou Sharingan. Just like Itachi, Sasuke had the power of the Amaterasu in one eye. Interestingly, his other eye offered a completely different power called Kagutsuchi.
This ability allows Sasuke to manipulate the black flames of the Amaterasu according to his will. Not only can he apply high-level shape transformation to it but also incorporate it into many other jutsu of his, such as the Chidori.

The Ultimate Power Of the Mangenkyo
The Susanoo is one of the greatest powers of the Mangekyo Sharingan, if not the greatest. This ability is only accessible to those who have awakenedthe Mangekyo Sharinganin both eyes.
First seen through Itachi Uchiha, the Susano’o forms a giant humanoid of chakra around the user the power of which is immense. Not only does it function as the greatest form of defense but it also has enough offensive power to cleave mountain ranges apart with a single slash of the sword.
20Nine Tails Manipulation
The Power To Control The Strongest Beast
One of the most incredible aspects of the power of the Mangekyo Sharingan is its ability to control the Nine Tails. It appears that this power of the Mangekyo Sharingan is granted to nearly every person who awakens it.
Any user of the Mangekyo Sharingan can control the Nine Tails, or, perhaps even the other Tailed Beasts. It appears that through their superior visual prowess, they can control the beast using Genjutsu powers, and even make it their very own summon, by making a contract. This makes Kurama one of the strongest summons in Naruto, specifically to be used by the Uchiha, and those who hold the Mangekyo Sharingan power. Throughout history, fans have seen several Uchiha utilize this power. Madara was the first one who pulled this off. Obito Uchiha also managed to achieve this incredible feat. Itachi could have done it if he wanted to, and Fugaku mentioned in the anime that his eye was strong enough to pull this incredible feat off.
19Full Body Susanoo
The Trump Card of the Mangekyo Sharingan
The Susanoo is the trump card of the Mangekyo Sharingan. However, not every Susanoo is the same. When first manifested, is merely a skeletal structure and it gradually grows stronger. When one gains great control over the Mangekyo Sharingan, possibly even awakening the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, they gain the power to use the Full Body Susanoo as well.
The Full Body Susanoo towers several meters over an average human. The power of it is so majestic that it can easily slice through mountain ranges and destroy villages and towns within a matter of seconds. This power is truly the trump card of the Sharingan and deserves a mention of its own.
