Apple TV+‘sTed Lassowas excitingly renewed for season 4 this year, but it will have some serious competition from Netflix’s rival successful sports show,Running Point, which just got a big season 2 update. After its premiere in February 2025,Running Pointwas renewed for season 2just one week later, highlighting its popularity.

Running Pointreceived positive reviewsthat pointed to Kate Hudson’s performance as Isla Gordon and the show’s messy, but compellingly watchable interplay. Likewise, the show received positive comparisons toTed Lasso, thanks to the sports connection and unlikely team leader found in Isla, while still telling its own distinct story.

These dynamics shone through well in season 1, butRunning Point’s season 1 endingset the story up to expand a lot further. Luckily, afterRunning Pointseason 2was announced in the spring, Netflix has recently revealed that season 2 is now in production with an official announcement and cast photo shared onX.

What This Production Update Means For Running Point

As of July 10, 2025, Netflix has officially confirmed that production on season 2 ofRunning Pointis underway, which is hugely exciting news for fans. While audiences already knew that season 2 would be coming, knowing that filming has now begun puts a much clearer timeline on the production.

IfRunning Pointseason 2 follows the same 10-episode format, the series will likely be filming for at least the next several months. The series will then continue into post-production. Although Netflix’s new update is very exciting forRunning Pointfans, season 2 likely won’t premiere until spring or summer 2026.

This may feel like a long time to wait for audiences dying to know how Isla will fare with Cam’s return, but it is still impressive given the ever-increasing wait times between seasons. Overall, Netflix’s exciting update bodes well forRunning Point, and filming means that the streamer will hopefully share more production news soon to keep audiences intrigued.

Our Take On Running Point Season 2

Running Pointseason 2 beginning filming is certainly an exciting prospect, and I look forward to seeing how the creators will expand the story in the show’s sophomore outing. Hudson’s Isla is the heart of the series, but the show wouldn’t work without her family and Ali Lee, so seeing everyone back together as a team looks promising.

Unsurprisingly, Netflix’s picture confirms we will see the return of the Gordon family, with Justin Theroux’s Cam potentially playing a bigger role this season. This also means the series will continue to explore its complicated family dynamics, which were a huge part of season 1.

Running Pointseason 1 wasn’t entirely perfect, but it had a solid base and a good heart. Even with its imperfections, audiences were drawn to the series, and season 2 gives the show a chance to grow. Despite the availability of other sports shows,Running Pointhas created its own niche. Now it just needs to continue filling it.
