HBO’s Upcoming Series Task Is Another Dark Crime Thriller Like Untamed
Coming just a few short months afterUntamedfound massive success on Netflix, HBO will soon be releasing its own similar crime series,Task.Taskwas created by Brad Ingelsby, and it stars Mark Ruffalo as Tom, an FBI agent tasked with leading a team to apprehend the individuals behind a series of violent robberies.
Task’s newly released trailershows Ruffalo’s Tom battling against his own demons while working with a young squad of agents to catch the culprit. The trailer also hints thatthe series will give insight into the lives of the robbers as well, highlighting the divide between their violent actions and daily lives.
The dark, gritty tone that is already on full display will makeTaska great rival forUntamed.The trailer hints at the imperfections of Ruffalo’s character and his comsuming desire to find the robbers, even if it comes at a cost.Taskalso looks to include some thrilling action sequences to balance out its more emotionally heavy moments.
HBO’s Task May Already Have A Leg Up On Untamed
Netflix’s crime dramas have improved steadily in recent years, withshows likeAdolescenceshowcasing just how great the streamer’s offerings can be.Untamed’s success is indicative of this change, despite having room for improvement. It is very uncommon for TV shows to have a perfect first season, soUntamed’s minor issues shouldn’t really be a long-term problem. With that being said, though, it does mean that the show needs to grow into the expectations that it set during season 1, especially with the new competition fromTask.
