Our Take On The Neighborhood’s Future
IfThe Neighborhoodcontinues climbing Paramount+’s charts, it might just have a future past its eighth season, after all. Well, it’s unlikely that CBS will reverse itscancellation ofThe Neighborhoodand order another season. However, it’s quite possible thatthe sitcom’s recent achievement could convince the network (or Paramount+) to expand its universe by developing at least one spinoff.
CBS previously had aspinoff ofThe Neighborhoodin development, but the network decided not to go forward with it in April 2025. The offshoot was to focus on Malcolm and Marty after their move from Pasadena to Venice. Unfortunately, the spinoff (which was tentatively titledCrutch) didn’t receive the green light from CBS.
However, with the show’s rising success on Paramount+, maybe the network’s executives will rethink their previous decision. The Malcolm and Marty spinoff might not come to fruition, but that doesn’t mean all spinoffs are off the table. Anything is possible, especially afterThe Neighborhood’s triumphs on streaming.
The Neighborhoodseason 8 premieres on Monday, July 24, 2025, at 8 pm ET on CBS.
