TheJohn Wickfranchise is one of the most popular modern action series around. The Keanu Reeves films have been so successful in the 11 years since the first film was released that Hollywood has made several copycat films trying to use a similar premise, character, action style, and visual language. While many have tried to imitate it, only one has truly succeeded.
David Leitch and Chad Stahelski directed the firstJohn Wicktogether, with the former being a stuntman who helped kick off the iconic franchise. Since making the 2014 film,Leitch went on to direct other action moviesand comedies, such asAtomic Blonde, a female-led hard-hitting thrill that has all the makings of aJohn Wickcopycat.

Leitch and Stahelski have expanded their reach over Hollywood in the aftermath of the first film’s success. While the latter helmed the three sequels, the former has overseen several action films under his production banner, 87North Productions. Many have a certainJohn Wickquality to them, and he’s turned the best copycat into a franchise of its own.
Nobody Is A Great John Wick Copycat, & The Sequel Is Coming Next Week
2021’sNobodyis incredibly similar to theJohn Wickmovies, but it is fantastic. The film stars Bob Odenkirk as Hutch Mansell, a seemingly ordinary family man who just wants to live a mundane life. After Hutch’s home is robbed, a series of events leads to him revealing his background as a former government assassin, plunging him into a battle with a Russian crime syndicate.
The firstNobodywas a critical and commercial success, with it being praised as another innovation in the action genre while making $57.5 million on a budget of $16 million. Thanks to this success, a sequel was greenlit in December 2022.Nobody 2is finally coming out next week, making it the perfect time to check outthe first film, which is currently streaming on Prime Video.

Nobody 2will release in theaters on June 23, 2025, bringing back Odenkirk’s former assassin for another action-packed adventure. This time, Hutch takes his family on a vacation, hoping to get away from the chaos of his home life. However, he quickly becomes embroiled in another feud with a criminal organization, causing him to have to fight back once again.
The firstNobodywas great, and hopefullyNobody 2improves on its predecessor in the same way thatJohn Wick: Chapter 2improved on its. While it isn’t nearly as popular as the Keanu Reeves series,Nobodyhas the potential to be another incredible action franchise, and the upcoming sequel will prove if it can find continued success.
Even though the first film was a success, it pales in comparison toJohn Wick. You’d be forgiven if you haven’t seen it yet. But, with a proper sequel on the way, now is the perfect time to watchNobody, as you may catch up on the series before the next installment of theJohn Wickcopycat hits theaters.
