Bunny Day is back inAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsand many fans have taken to the internet to express their displeasure at the event. TheAnimal Crossingfranchise is a wholesome and cozy series of games where players can design their own island and interact with animal-themed neighbors. While there are certainly some villagers that are less popular than others, none are as universally disliked as the odd mascot-like Zipper T. Bunny.
The Bunny Day event is aseasonal occurrence onACNHthat adds a spring side quest to the title. During the event, players can collect eggs around their islands, which they can then give to the Easter bunny-like event guide, Zipper. It sounds like a fun way to ring in the new season, butmany fans find the rabbit-suit-wearing Zipper creepy and see the event as a nuisance. This year’s pre-Bunny Day celebration began on April 13 and will last roughly two weeks.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Fans Reluctantly “Welcome” Zipper Back Onto Their Islands
The Community Is Not A Fan Of The Rabbit Mascot
TheAnimal CrossingReddit is full ofACNHplayers who areless than thrilled to see the odd rabbit-adjacent character Zipper wandering around their islands.“Not this again!” exclaims Reddit userbananapeeljazzy, in a post paired with an image showing Zipper seeming to be locked away behind bars.
Other Redditors have shared their own experiences “welcoming” Zipper back onto their islands, like the video fromOther_Pomelo2288showing the mascot character dancing to the K.K. Slider end credits song. The Redditor notes that “Bro bopping too hard for someone WHO WASN’T EVEN INVITED, GO AWAY.” RedditorIni_Miney_Mimishares a different video, commenting how much it freaks them out thatZipper appears dejected and sad until he sees the player, then goes right back to being gloomy again.

Yet another post, this one from anACNHplayer who goes bycinnabunnibun02on Reddit, needs no video to achieve its full effect. This post is simplya single image that calls to mind the twins ofThe Shining: Zipper is perfectly positioned behind a tricycle and a bit ouf ot focus, giving him a strangely eerie appearance. “Get him AWAYY,” writes cinnabunnibun02 in the post’s caption. It’s safe to say that while theAnimal Crossingcommunity is a warm and welcoming place for everyone, Zipper T. Bunny is one of the only characters who has very few fans.
Why Animal Crossing: New Horizons Fans Feel So Strongly About Bunny Day
Eggs, Eggs, Everywhere
Animal Crossing: New Horizonswas released on July 29, 2025 and the first Bunny Day arrived less than a month later. Players were just starting to get into the game in the middle of a global pandemic when, suddenly, there were “eggs everywhere,“as Redditorwildrulerdescribes it.
They go on: “I couldn’t get the cute cottagecore items to decorate my island because it was just eggs.” The eggs replacedfossils dug up from the ground, items dropping down from trees, and even fish being pulled out of the waterways. The drop rate for the eggs was so high for the first year thatNintendo had to tone it down in the years that followed.

What was supposed to be a cute spring event became a hassle for players, so much so that they’ve started dreading the return of the rabbit character every year since then. All the complaints are made in fun, of course, as theACNHBunny Day eventis still a fun and silly part of enjoying the game, and many fans do enjoy the egg hunt and all the egg-themed furniture you can craft from them. But mostAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsfans can’t wait until the Bunny Day event is over and Zipper T. Bunny departs from their island for another year.
