Since launch, fans have enjoyed diving back into the world of Cyrodill, even if thegame’s nostalgic quirksare equally charming and frustrating to a lot of players. This new update aims to alleviate some of those grievances, but it might be a bit before this huge update makes its way to other platforms.

According to a post from the officialBethesda Game StudiosX account, theupdate 1.2 beta test is now available forThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion RemasteredonSteam, and there are quite a few updates and improvements. What To Expect From Oblivion’s 1.2 Update

New Difficulty Settings, Performance Fixes, And A Lot More

This new update is quite large and is divided into several different focus points: settings, UI, crashes, audio, quests, performance, gameplay, and system changes. The most notable addition is probably the new difficulty option. The “Journeyman” difficulty has been added, and Bethesda has stated that it hopes the new difficulty will serve as a better bridge between “Adept” and “Expert.” Another huge focus is on fixing various bugs that occur during quests, some of which prevented players from completing them.

Thefirst major update forOblivion Remasteredwas released last month and targeted local map issues and crashes. This update appears to be more of that, plus the new difficulty setting. The full patch notes can be read onSteam.

When Oblivion 1.2 Might Release Elsewhere

It Shouldn’t Be Too Long, Unless There Are Major Issues

Oblivion Remastered’s first major update was released in beta on June 5, and its full release was on June 11. If this second update follows suit, wecould see its full release next week. Bethesda is asking for feedback from the Steam beta test on its official Discord server, so if a fix doesn’t work or additional issues arise, the problems will likely be addressed quickly. With sofew people having finishedOblivion Remastereddue to its length and free availability on Game Pass, this new update will hopefully peak players' interest again.

Overall, this is a nice update to the game, but some fans who enjoy the nostalgic glitches and crashes that typically come from Bethesda games might be put off a little by some fixes. Still, a new difficulty mode in a game that is almost 20 years old is neat, and it’s clear that Bethesda and Virtuos wantThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredto be as good as it possibly can be.
